what is this:
1.
when i set the output to quicktime, in the output tab arises a keyframes button, greyed out: its by default set to keyframes 7...and not changebable

so question is:
what is it?
what can i do with it?
How do i use it, if something can be done with it?

2.
In Red Alert
i can set the gamma
to
linear (linear light)
rec709 (gamma corrected)
redlog
pdlog
pd log custom

in Redcine there is no
linear setting, just
rec709
redlog
pd log
custom (gamma 1)

where is the linear gamma in redcine?

3. Can i output quicktimes (Pro Res) out of red alert?
I dont talk about proxies.

Thank you

Hi Kaya,

What the keyframe does is that if a codec supports temporal coding, it ensures that every so many frames as indicated by the "Keyframes" parameter a full frame is encoded without any temporal dependancies on the previous frame.

So yes this feature does work, it will only work with codecs that supports keyframes though.

In Redcine you can set the Gamma to custom 1.0 to achieve Linear Light.

Yes you can output Self Contained Quicktime movies using ProRes out of Red Alert.

thank you kevin, two more questions

1. can you give examples of such codecs
2. i think i am getting stupid waiting for my red, i cant figure out how to export selfcontained quicktimes using Pro Res.

what i see in the GUI is 2/4 k dpx or Tiffs
and under the files tab is the make quicktime button, which exports the proxies-
how do i export Pro Res?
or uncpmpreesed 2k etc.
in redcine i have these options
and is red alert exporting pro res with 10 bit?
