  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

KETCH ROSSi

I was watching Laforet's new MoVI video the other day and I'm just stunned, looking at what's possible with this gear. You can do insane things like in Soy Cuba (that sequence, for example) and other incredibly visual films, but soooo smooth and beautiful. Best of Luck, Ketch!

Ketch, I haven't read the latest development leading to your current situation but it's clear enough to understand how much you must be disapointed.

I'm not a very active user here but I would not want to miss the chance to tell you one thing. Your perseverance, now going along with total control of the financial aspects of your project, make me think of you as a modern Rosselini (who was pretty much modern himself, by the way). Just like he did when he decided to move from the big screen to television (where directors could find more freedom at that time), I am sure you will gain a lot from that new power of yours.

PS : Maybe not a coincidence if one of his best work for TV is "The taking of power by (Louis XIV)" :001_cool:

Yea this is definitely been one of the hardest combine series of financials and personal goals and dreams "HIT" I have ever experienced, but since I always dream so big and aim so high, at times it does not surprises me, other times it just sucks...

Fact remains that this, as you said it yourself, to a true Artis, as I consider myself to be, this could end up been the best thing could have happened, as now all my endeavors including my first Motion Picture "R o a B" will be 100% dependent on my artistic and creative capacities as an individual, instead of some one else's huge amount of cash thrown out to it, meaning complete creative freedom to me, and easy will not be, but impossible is nothing in life for me, and neither will be achieving what I have set you to do, it will just take me longer, and might not be as grandiose, but will happen, eventually... ;)

As for my first movie, having just moved to Modena, I am making some last changes to the Screenplay, to adjust budgetary residuals to shoot, and looking in to getting some more commercial supporters, manufacturers etc. in, and then with the creation of a Kickstarter program hope to make it as great as it can be... ;)

Talk is cheap my friend and I am ready to see you do so much more...

If you get a plan on the ground running, I'll show up in Italy with our Epic, myself and possibly my producing partner and we'll help assist you in making this dream a reality. Him and I included you pretty much have two aces that can fill in any role and we'll have a damn good time and a damn good attitude, and this comment is coming with a lot of love for you, I want to see a KETCH ROSSi movie, and I'm down to put a lot of sweat, a little money and possibliy a little blood if the situation requires it.

Keep fighting my friend.

Will...

I truly thank you form the bottom of my weak heart... ;)

Your kind words and incredible show of support is very well accepted here, and we'll be starting a new tread soon, both to get a pre-Team started and put together the final plan for a Kickstarter campaign.

This will all be right after I finish the Short for R.O.A.B so that every one can see what I intended as a look for the film, and how the worst scenes for the rape and killing will look like... The Extended and Uncut Director's version will of course have more then shown on short, which that will be referring to what will be released as Theatrical Edit.

And yes, I also very much hope to raise additional funds then those currently raised via the selling of most of my gear and personal items, so that I can bring to Italy at list half dozen of my fellow Reduser to Modena Italy, and make this happen!!

When is she turning into a DRAGON Epic?

You shooting you movie with the new sensor?

Modena is my new home now! And this is my latest RED EPIC set up to shoot "R o a B" with... ;)

Hey Ketch,

Keep going and push through tough times.

My tip, split the Kickstarter campaign in several (e.g., Pre-production, shooting, Post, distribution), just based on productions steps -- instead of one big request. I haven't seen many "Kickstarters" failing where I "backed" for, but as a production takes a long time, it is easier for everyone to share some money from time to time, than a big chunk at once. Smaller amounts allow for faster success and each follow up campaign will be pushed by the material you have. Just a thought.

If you are shooting somewhere in California, I'm happy to offer free time as a second (or a third) camera, if possible for me then (I can't predict the future, but I'm happy to help).

My best wishes

Sassi

She is first in line... So as every one else we hope soon... But then again, it also depends, as if we are already in the shoot then we need to keep going.

The Short will most likely at this point very well be shot on MX sensor, but we sure do hope that we do get to shoot the Motion Picture on Dragon, especially because there will be 6' Prints of the main Models as part of the story that pools Frame Grabs form the camera I'l personally shoot the girls with in the film, and print poster size 6' tool prints for a special Gallery Auction that talks against violence to Women, so the extra MP's will surely help on print, but we did already have some great results on MX, so not too worried at all.

Thanks Sassi, I haven't really tough all the way thru on the Kickstarter, I however already have built "10" Rewards which from what I have seen, there will be the best around.

But also been this the first Kickstarter campaign I do, I decided as I said ot strat a new tread as to allow any one truly serious and in possibility to do so, to jump in as part of the Pre-Team, and together try to give the best we can to the success of a great Campaign.

Hiya Ketch
I'm wondering at your cool latest setup. How on earth did you get the top handle to look like the way does. Did you unscrew the front of the top handle. I tried but its so tight so I''m not sure I'm doing it right.
Best

.

Are you sure it's first? I thought Dragon upgrade was based on the time stamp of the upgrade order, rather than original delivery date.

What I should have said is one of the first in line, that is what I meant, as even if was not time based, was still not first, but third, after 6&7.

Either way, my time base, if not the first, still places it amongst the very first... ;)

Not that matters at this point because the camera might not even be able to go back, since I brought it back form Vegas to shoot our Short and Feature Film with it, and surely can't stop shooting the fim just to send it back for the upgrade, so might end up been one of the least just the same, we'll see.

Okay, and since I was to walk for about 5 kilometers around Modena were all vehicles were located, I went back up to my place and pretty fast went to this set up... On the RED Epic.

But wish I had this here with me, which I didn't.. :( Would have made this set up that much lighter!! Next time... ;)

EPIC+Rokinon Frame Grabs

EPIC+Rokinon Frame Grabs

Here you go...

Note that this are simply pulled frames shot hand held while walking thru the Cars exposed on the streets of Modena, no HFR, no HDRx, all shot at 24p, and processed super lightly on my lap top at a local caffè since I am not yet set up at home.

Alos this is the simplest and most basic way of testing lenses, on the street with no filters nor Hoods, other then the very first shot. Additionally some were shot at 22 as it was so bright out.

Still at the end, I am apply surprised that such extremely cheap lenses do so well, and that is a good thing, a very good thing, since right now I can't afford to use anything else, unless borrowed or rented for a particular Job... ;)

RED EPIC was set at 5K 2.1 Redcode 8:1 @ 320 ISO All Shots were Snap Shots form RCX-Pro Color3 Gamma3, exported in to Camera Raw, Auto+Clarity added, then to CS6 Curve Auto added with copyright info and that is it, absolutely NO Sharpening, Grading, or anything else was added, as top keep it as true as possible to the lens capacity it self to resolve, then of course there is the Web compression artifacts, were I chose not to compensate for it, by adding sharpness on exit, so you'll get a better idea of the worst performance you can get form this lenses, and if you like what you see here, you'll love what will come in my nextFashion Portrait shoot with this lenses.

Sweet rides :) thanks for sharing Ketch!

How did you choose the lenses? Did you handpick them or just take one each?
I'd like to find out if they are comparable all the way through the production batch or if there are any noteable differences from lens to lens. Since these are not AF lenses and the marks are not really useable anyway is there anything to pay attention to?
