  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

KETCH ROSSi & Joseph Hutson's American EPIC Tour Begins...

Ketch, Joseph. You are more than welcome to stay at my humble adobe in Arlington, VA, only 10 minutes from DC, and an hour from the beautiful Shenandoah mountains. You will also be transported via my Prius if you want to make this an Epic Green shoot.

I know the area very well, and have shot many features and shorts here. I have a strong network base of filmmakers in the area who will be more than willing to help and provide gear and support for the shoot.

This sounds like an adventure of a lifetime. And Joseph, you are one lucky guy. See you guys at NAB.

as long as the host doesn't have to talk on camera..... I would be more than willing to show you around New York City ( I live right outside the city) and I venture into the city on a very regular basis.. I also have a bunch of favorite shooting locations through out new york city and it'd be my pleasure to show you around... I'd also love to give you a place to stay for as long as you would like to stay here... shoot me an e-mail : lmaddalena@mac.com and we can discuss what more I have to offer and what else you would need from a host besides just a tour guide and a place to stay.. even if I don't get to touch the camera, I'll make sure I give you everything you need just to see it in action.

Something to think about...

Even if you see someone lobbying to host the same city you wanted to host, nothing keeps you from getting the spot. ;)

As I always say: The answer is no 100% of the time you don't ask!

Ketch, I have an underwater shoot with Summer Rayne http://www.summerrayne.net/
later this month, the 25th to be exact. Would love to work with you. Summer is a big fan of EPIC as well. We are looking for an indoor shooter friendly pool at the moment. Enjoy the trip!

Hey guys I can host Idaho, and the Sacramento/Tahoe area. Idaho specifically would be the Boise area hells canyon, McCall, Cascade, Sun Valley.

Also Torrey Loomis is here as well I actually work in his office.

Love were this is going, more and more, also have few Studios, including Jack in Houston, were we will shot the Playmate Color Blast stuff,
at list I keep up my reputation he he :reddevil:

I provided an MX camera for one of their shoots and would be happy to be a part of the Houston meetup as well! Plus I might have some of those accessories ready for you by that time ;)

Hutson I know you'll be getting your Red soon (if you don't have one already).

Ketch,

I'd be thrilled to have you here in DC.

I didn't know how many RedUsers were here. Adam, Zhibo, Scott Crawley and several others.

You've got a place to stay with me if needed, and I'm conveniently located near Dulles Airport. (That's looking at the bright side.)

As for shooting in and near DC ... you may have heard that we have monuments and such. I'll ask one of our local operators if he can help arrange a helicopter shoot ... its a tricky thing to do in DC.

Also, I just had a short shoot at Great Falls National park ... but I had to capture all that splendor on a 7D. It was a great shoot, but I almost wanted to cry because you know - 7D.

I second Zhibo's recommendation of shooting the Shenadoahs, but its a trek and its tough to get to the scenic shots. Worth the effort, but you must schedule accordingly.

Finally if you want to share with lots of people, I'd love to have you and Joseph talk to the local professional organization, where I am on the board. We can host it at one of the top local post houses, or possibly the National Cable Television Association's theater. I've been saving that venue for "something epic" and Epic, Ketch and Joseph qualify!

So, apparently you must make a stop in DC, and you'll have lots of hands and homes welcoming you!

I guess my places are more scenic than city, but hey just let me know whenever.

Ketch, I live near an ugly town with an ugly landscape. If you decide to do some ugly, this is the place.

Does anybody have connections in San Francisco? We'd absolutely love to shoot some aerials of the city...the Golden Gate Bridge, especially.
This reminds me that PBS recently showed an aerial tour of Italy. Fantastic footage that brought home the scope of the Roman civilization. Makes me want to learn to fly ultra-lights so I can do fly-overs on my own.

Nice that you're swinging by Houston. If there is some kind of meetup (drinks downtown? Not sure what part of town Cooper is shooting at...), post details please.
