  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Ketch + Epic + Canon Mount

That's Piazzale Michelangelo! But you got the city right...

Adrian, you are totally right and it was a kind of lapsus calami or a typo (a miswriting)...also had opened DaVinci Resolve app...

Also I was there at Piazzale Michelangelo last time in May and the image below shows approximately the place at the wall

where Ketch was shot with Epic in his hands behind Florence panorama (see below)...

I did tons of photos and video with two cameras just in about 20 minutes before went down in the city.

aaaah need...epic...now, this is such great news! able to be using my complete canon (there all on the list) set i already own on an epic is going to be...EPIC!

how about the nikon mount ? We poor nikon addicts feel sad at times...

Is it time to sell our beloved Nikon glasses ?
I am in love with my 2 200 VR but not sure I can wait 6 monthes more than the canon mount...

Thanks guys!!

All this positive replies are placing me even more in a position of wanting to deliver you guys some great variety of work to show off the Mount and what it can really mean to work with Electronically controlled Still lenses,
as well as what it means to work with Tilt Shift lenses with Epic... ;)

Hi Ketch,

For the kind of work i do, i must be able to use a manual follow focus for smoothness.

Is it possible to do so with these L lenses ?

Also, could you check if the 70-200 shifts left /right when you change focus direction ?

Antoine

Neil,

that is because I have a top mount Pro that it is a Prototype, with a slider were the Spinner mounts, atop of it has a Nato slide were I have the Top Handle, and i the front of the same I have the LCD mounted on,
which slides to the side with the slider were the spinner mounts.

THIS ONE...

Thanks for that Ketch, I know you must be busy so I really appreciate you taking the time to answer that as it was a real head scratcher :)
the mount looks very cool though...nice!

Thanks again,
Neil

I may have missed the answer to this....BUT, is there any way to change IRIS physically....or only via touchscreen and redmote? IS there ANYWAY to build into the UP SOON Nikon Smart mount a physical Iris gear as on the current OPtiTek mount AND have the smart mount capability???? For some....shooting say in an underwater housing.....the need to have a physical gear for iris control is crucial.

Johnny, why couldn't you use the redmote for iris on canon or nikon electronic? After 25 years of Fujinon/Canon with pots/knobs wherever was convenient on the housing and almost 3 years of Canon control with switches where we need them, being limited to gears up at the front of the housing seems so 1970s :-).

Here is a list of Canon lenses that have been programed into the mount/ Epic Brain. These still need to be characterized for fine-tuned autofocus as they all have different motor speeds etc., but they are and will be functional out of the gate when the Canon mount ships.

Image Stabilization is functional on the entire stabilized lens lineup.

Wireless focus will come with the normal REDMOTE, you just need to use the little scroll wheel, vs. the proper sized focus knob of the REDMOTE PRO.

Tha answers my question, and it's great because in an underwater housing the smaller wheel is actually easier to deal with. We can put a big knob on the outside.

Alright, can you tell I'm a little enthused about a Canon mount for Epic? :-)
