  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Ketch + Epic + Canon Mount

This is Ketch's thread but I just wanted to add my impressions.

The mount is gorgeous. Robust. Really well made and...

combines a PL style lock for extra security, so after the lens clicks on you also rotate a PL style lock that really secures it to the body.

It's a professional mount made for a cinema camera, pro all the way, top notch build quality.
It's nicer than the original Canon mount because of these factors.

Did I mention its titanium?

I just wanted to share that this is a very pro piece of kit, really a fantastic value.

No one will be dissapointed. RED did a great job. They listen, respond and deliver.

Very excited for the arrival of the Canon mount. And Ketch, I'm surprised at the Yukon, I would have seen you in a Caddy myself for a little extra bling! Either way it'll frighten the locals in their cinquecento's...

So close... Now, it just misses you, Jarred. Your italian friends wait (for) the (your) visit :-)

Greetings from Rome,

Emanuel :-)

It's a DENALI. That is a CADILLAC. How else would Ketch roll. !!! LOL..

He he, nope, I don't like the Cadilac at all, a nice GMC Yukon special edition Denali fits me just fine... ;)

And now this baby is getting a GPL Implant, ZERO Emission so I can travel in ZTL areas all the time, keep my footprint to a minimum and oh pend less... ;)

Shows you how much I know about cars and such. What a dork I am I thought DENALI was CADILLAC. I was confused.

My favourite topic! I have my Navigator running a Prinz LPG conversion just the same - I can recommend it very highly; you can switch fuel seamlessly and its totally reliable. You may have to say bye bye to that spare tyre though to find room for the tank.

/back to cameras...

Correct, the spare tyre will be replaced by the GPL tank, and we'll carry a special Kit, to inflate a tyre if it was to become punctured.

Yeah back to cameras.... CANON MOUNT... I still can't believe I have one right here!! SO much to do!!

He he, the girls are asking what type of Oil they should buy... I just said to make sure it has a Sun Block, don't want them to get Burned out there.... ;)

Remote Autofocus currently is functional ( via the REDMOTE )

Sweet!

Iris and autofocus control from the Redmote is just what the (underwater) doctor ordered. Can you manually set/adjust focus with the Redmote?

Indeed Michael,

and the use of Autofocus lenses with remote controlled Focus and Iris is a tremendous tool for underwater, and even so now does not look good for me, ai still look to an opportunity to test it out under as well... ;)

And GATES are making some crazy great progress with their units.

Thanks buddy... ;)

We have been talking for years, at last lets see if we get to meet up this year at IBC in Amsterdam, and share some of our Glass Passion... ;)

Ketch,

unfortunately I will not attend IBC this year because at the same time I'll be in Ibiza.

But maybe I could be shortly in Italy after that (Venice) that is still not fixed...!?

Anyway I'm mostly interested in performance of 24-70 and 70-200 V2 both Canon L lenses that I planned to work with Epic, also handheld.

Elvis called, he wants his sunglasses back...

Hang on, if you guys talk cars, then I want to know what's your sunglasses Ketch :D

He he, He is not getting them back any time soon, this are Japanese Made frames for an AMerican company called Chrome Hearts, this particle shade is called Back Door....

But we are actually talking about Cameras, specifically CANON mount he he

Too bad, but I will be there, or at list I know I'll try my very best, as I will also need to be at Venice for the Film Festival during the same week.

I'll definitely give a good run to the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 IS II, but don't care much of the 24-70 as in this range I use the 24mm T/S II,
the absolutely sharpest 24mm in its class, and the Tilt Shift option on Epic is something I want to experience... ;)

Have you tried some Sigmas on the Canon mount?
Believe it or not, I have some sigma glass I'm quite fond of.

$2,000 Paul, but that's a titanium mount.

Whilst I would have preferred the $500 version in regular materials, as Jim has stated, with the current dollar issues there had to be give somewhere and the mount is one of those. Can't complain when I'm getting a $50,000 camera for $20,000 :)

Thanks guys.

I actually did some time ago, cause I needed a specific Zoom range that Canon did no made, but I tried exactly 9 Lenses before finding a good one, so since Sigma is a NO GO,
their quality control is way out of control, even so I admit I did had to change few Canon L series glasses as well.
