I been contemplating which system to purchase. Anyone have use both that can give me advice?

Are you shooting time lapses with the Red or with a DSLR? I ask because the DP is more versatile and geared towards DSLR, and may not be able to smoothly operate with a Red on it (I know because I tried one, and it wasn't as smooth as I would have liked). If you are shooting with a lighter camera like a DSLR I think the DP slider is the way to go. I should mention, I was in the same boat you were a little bit ago. I was looking at three companies (your two options plus Cinevate) and went with Cinevate. I opted for the Cinevate Atlas 30 and couldn't be happier. It is silky smooth, built like a tank and can handle my Red Epic on it with a matte box no problem. I can use it for adding more dynamic shots to video and it also works great for time lapses (I have the Mocco control unit for time lapses). The downsides are the price and it is pretty heavy. Hope this helps!

Kessler is highly scalable and reliable, and inexpensive. We have very single pre-Cinedrive product from them, and have used all with a Red One and Epic many many times without issue and all are still running just fine (except the Cineslider -If I see one more slider shot past a pot of flowers I will scream - so we do not want one)

Hi there, I specialize in time lapse. If you are shooting with the Red then the Kessler setups are going to be the way you want to go. You You can most likely pull a stripped down Red Epic setup on the Dynamic Perception Stage Zero, but forget about the stage one. I shoot time lapse on DSLR, just invested in an epic and have not had a chance to test it out for TL. If you are going the DSLR route i recommend the stage one with the Emotimo TB3. Here are some examples of my recent work with this setup:

Feel free to PM me with more questions!

Thanks for the replies, I would be shooting timelapses with DSLR. The thing is that I already have a Kessler Stealth so it might make sense to get the Kessler Oracle. However, if I want to ever go 3 axis, it seems like Dynamic Perception will be at least half or third of the cost of a Kessler.

Check out camBLOCK as well in your research of timelapse rigs. I work for the company and we make full motion control systems that can pull off motion timelapses with some pretty unique features. One cool feature is interleaved timelapses - You can build multiple moves on a keyframe based timeline, and have the system shoot multiple timelapse shots with different camera moves during the same duration. This is only possible with motion control.

Our Modular system that has been established for a few years as the leader for professional rugged motion timelapse, and we're launching a newer product later this year called camBLOCK Adventure that'll be an even more portable system. Both of these systems can pull off realtime moves and handle the weight of a RED Epic as well as DSLRs.

+1 for the Kessler. The cineslider + cinedrive has worked great for time lapse & slides for DSLR and Epic/Scarlet. It's also been pretty rugged. Had it shooting bikes in a blizzard and in a variety of less than ideal environments and all worked fine.

Well Cinedrive is a $6k bundle. Kinda way over my budget right now.
