  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

So... you still need to wear the cheap goofy glasses.

I guess one use of this display is 3D preshow type media - the stuff you watch on small monitors while you stand in line before you go into a main 3D theater at a theme park. How about 3D monitors on ride vehicles or trams?

Any other usage ideas, guys?
 
Yes we have one of these here at work. It is a demo unit. We use real-d glasses with it.

It looks great most of the time but has some issues I can't talk about in a public forum since I don't want to overstep any NDA's etc...

we also have the Samsung DLp and mitsubishi here. As well as a few auto-stereo displays, different makes.

This monitor was on display at Sydney SMPTE Conference and I was very impressed. There were other monitors on display and the JVC stood out as best. This may have partly influenced by the high quality 3D images on it. Always amazed how manufactures can spend millions on R&D and then crappy pictures on their monitors when trying to sell them:confused1:

I tested the JVC 46" 3DTV for a couple of weeks (and wrote a FCP plugin so I could create content for it.)

It uses the same Xpol screen that Hyundai uses on their 46", but the LCD monitor itself is a bit better as far as colour reproduction.

It accepts side by side (parallel squeezed or unsqueezed) and interlaced (left on odd line.) The monitor has a processor that takes the side by side and sends the left to the odd lines and right to the even lines. There is hardly any ghosting with side-by-side content, but if you send it interlaced content in 4:2:2 there tends to be some ghosting.
The interlaced lines themselves are circularly polarized for either clockwise or counter-clockwise.
This means you can use Real-D glasses with the monitor.

It's definitely on the top of my list so far for image quality.
