We have just recently received our upgraded DRAGON and did some few test shots before the camera suddenly stopped recording and shut down with the words "Data integrity error." After I restarted the EPIC I noticed some heavy vertical artifacts along the screen. The same artifacts appeared when I first booted the camera, but slowly disappeared once the camera was heating up. At first, I thought this was an issue related to sensor calibration / blackshading. However, I think this can be ruled out since the error occurred at normal operating temperature.

Did anyone encounter this problem before? Thanks in advance!

Here is a photo of the LCD I quickly took with my iPhone (I turned off the room lights so that the artifacts are better visible on the screen):

had the same thing on my Epic-x but horizontal lines. they went away and after 3weeks they returned and they dont want to get away. SSD is unrecognizable and now the camera is at Red Europe for a checkup/repair. Have to say that as I was super frustrated I am now super happy how the guys at Red Europe sorted me out with a replacement camera as I have a shoot coming up so I dont have to rent another one.
My suggestion is to send it back as soon as possible. Ill know whats wrong with mine in a day or two probably.

Something similar happened to me while on a feature...ended up being one of the boards. Similar situation to Uros in that RED offered a loaner while it was repaired. I would contact your Bomb Squad Rep.

Thanks for the replies, guys! That doesn't sound too well and is quite frustrating considering that our EPIC was just in for the upgrade... I'll make sure to contact my bomb squad rep then.

Thanks again!

Hi Toby,
We had the "Data Integrity" issue pop up just after we received our Epic back from it's Dragon upgrade. Since then I updated the brain to the latest Release software and don't seem to have had the issue again.
We didn't get any problems on our EVF.
From research it sounds like problems with the boards and requires a repair back at Red, however I would check your firmware (even try the latest Beta as well) and see if you can duplicate the problem
cheers

I had something similar on my Epic-MX within a couple days of receiving it. I had to send it in to RED and they just sent me a new camera if I remember correctly. Fingers crossed on my Dragon upgrade tomorrow. I'm the most unlucky RED User I think the world. :D

I contacted RED Support in Berlin and they told me to re-install the latest firmware. Since then, our EPIC is running without a glitch. Therefore, this problem seemed to be a software issue. Let's hope it doesn't happen again.

Thanks for your input, guys!

Great News Toby.

One small thing is to always read and follow the installation instructions. Redmotes, for example, should never be attached during the upgrade process.

Bad news...We restarted the EPIC and the same error occurred. Our DRAGON is now off to service. :(

@David
We didn't upgrade the firmware when we received our DRAGON. The firmware was already installed by RED and we re-installed it hoping the error would go away.

Sorry to hear that Toby.

was putting that info out there for anyone reading the thread.

I had that issue with a brand new Epic-X and it turned out to be a bad circuit board. Open an RMA immediately if you've had this problem
