OK, so the joystick knob fell off and who knows where it rolled....

I'm obviously going to order a few spares (and drive cradle screws.. those seem to be be dropping off un-noticed) and this is only on our spare camera that I use for demos, but while I wait for Red/Fedex/UK Customs, has anyone else had this and found something off-the-shelf that might fit the bill in a push? Annoying that the camera I use to show newcomers to Red is basically US for the sake of a little knob.

I was thinking of the knob on a Playstation joystick etc. ?

I would opt for something a bit more intimidating, myself...

Can you order these from RED as backups? I didn't see them in the store.

Nice one Casey!

Yes: you get the joystick and the knob apparently. It's not listed on the store but is orderable. I think it was around $25. Which is very reasonable when you've been used to dealing with Sony Spares...

So may be worth tacking on to your next order to have ready in the cupboard.

Same thing happened to me.

I replaced it with one of those, put a little gaff tape on it for traction and left it on. Never replaced the knob 'cause I like this better and is hasn't come loose since I put it on. The set screw is bigger so you can tighten it down more. If RED's knob had a bigger set screw it would be OK.

will you please post some pictures of your customized joystick knob ?

the thing from tower hobbies works great. It has a better grip onto the stick than red's however it doesnt grip your hand as well as the red one.

One of my guys is going to try and file it down for friction, or dip it in that stuff you dip bare tools in to give them a handle.
