  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Joseph Hutson - "CHECKMATE" - Los Angeles

I am not sure why I feel like a proud father as I am not that old and Joseph is not that young but watching this thread really is special...

Joseph's adventure is a great reminder of that special innocence some of us have either lost or forgotten about along time ago.

Thank you Joseph.

you guys are both top class. thanks for sharing that jarred, really cool stuff going on with you guys.

What was the rated ASA on the night shots? How does the noise look like on the original file?

I shot all of the daytime stuff at 800 ISO, using 77mm Tiffen ND's.

I shot some of the nighttime stuff at 800 ISO and f1.2 for experimentation, while other stuff I shot at f2.0 and 1280 ISO. The super dark stuff (towards the end, with the fishermen) was shot at f1.2 and was bumped up to 2000 ISO in CS5.5 when I got back from shooting.

Gotta love RAW... :)

EDIT: original files? They look fantastic. No complaints...

With the risk of getting bankrupt, I'm also thinking the same, provided I still get a chance to order an Epic X with the old 2011 pricing...

I wouldn't suggest that if you might possibly go bankrupt! Haha!

I keep to the rule that if I have to go into debt and get a loan with interest, DON'T do it.

+1

That's why it'll take me a while to finally get an EPIC. But it'll totally be worth it.

I made it safely to San Francisco. Gonna be shooting around for a few days with Alex MacLean. I can't wait to shoot with this uber tiny setup...

dude, that looks fun!! What lens is that? Post a pic/vid?

Congrats Joseph I always knew you'd make it on the board as a owner I'm proud of you man I'm sure you give a lot of others hope that they too can be owners.

This kind of thread is exactly why I come to REDuser every day. Inspiring is not a big enough word. Congrats, Joseph! Great work, love the pics and footage... keep it coming!

:) Well, over here to get that amount of money or liquidity you either work for the "gaming" industry or you get a loan :)

Another long day of shooting is complete.

I''m now up here in San Francisco, shooting more with the Canon mount.

In addition to using the Canon lenses, I was able to try out some Zeiss glass with an original Contax mount with a Canon EOS adapter. It had quite a beutiful look for some of the night stuff I was shooting at Pier 39.

I can't wait to shoot some more to share with the community here. Too bad I need to return the mount on Thursday, or else I'd be up here through the weekend! :D However, I am most grateful for the opportunity already given.

Again, I shot the whole day alone. 7 lenses, 2 bricks, a tripod and EPIC. CRAZY what a one man crew has the potential to do...
