I was at the GV EXpo today in Wash DC. Meet with the K5600 folks and saw pix (no demo yet) of the new Joker-Bug 1600. It shares the same barrel diameter as the 800, some attachments will interchange. They said that it will be released at the end of December. No price yet.

Did they mention power details?

love Jokers!
great news. but the beauty of the Joker always was simplicity in use, simply tap it into the wall and voila.
1600 ,if based on the same technology will call for my gaffer:)

I hope they have improved heat dissipation. I love my Joker 800, but it wont hot restrike like the 400s. A real PITA.

Great news - always thought the 1.8 arri was a bit pointless as it doesn't really work on a 15 amp house circuit in practice

The Joker 1600 will also need a 20A circuit, just like the Arri 1.8. Also remember Joker 400 and 800 ballasts are not power factor corrected. I'll bet the 1600 is the same. So they pull a fair bit more amperage than PFC ballasts from Arri, Dedo, etc. If so, the 1600 will not only need a 20A circuit, it will max it out.

I have confirmation from K5600 that the 1600 does have PFC and will work on any 15 amp circuit.

Assuming there's no massive power spike on striking, 1600w / 120v = 13.3 amps.

electronic ballasts ramp up, rather than spike like mag ballasts.

voltage varies from 110 to 125, and that's before running 100ft of stinger. But assuming the worst (110v) and factoring in a PC Factor of .98, it will draw 14.84 amps. So it will be good anywhere, as long as you use a proper guage/length of stinger.
