  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Johnny Walker Bruce Lee ad finally released! Epics/Master Primes

That was beautifully shot. Well done Christopher! Amazing commercial.
Thanks for sharing the behind the scenes video as well.. Great to see how you achieved the effect.

Love the Behind the Scenes look at it. Thanks for sharing, Christopher. Hope you do understand that what I said was not concerning the cinematography but about the campaign creative brief. I work in the creative area myself and being a "local" from these parts- you might not get this idea from my name and surname!- I was a bit scratching my head with this. The commercial, if social impact and awareness was the goal, is doing one hell of an impressive job at it. Its crazy popular right now. Here's one of the latest articles in Hong Kong's most prestigious newspaper. The title is a bit misleading because the contents are much more moderated inside. http://www.scmp.com/news/hong-kong/article/1279469/bruce-lee-returns-promote-alcohol

Personally, I think everyone here was very respectful in both their feedback on the cinematography part, as on the creative part.

I also found the whole discussion very insightful, I think it would be sad to see it go. It's not because people talk about the content of the commercial, and discuss about it, that they are dissing Chris' (great) work.

Thanks for posting.

Beautifully shot commercial featuring an iconic man touting an iconic drink.
CG was stuck in uncanny valley, but besides that the look and feel of the ad was great. Pulling a Benjamin Button on what I can only assume was a fraction of their budget is definitely not an easy task.

i think it was a cool ad and tastefully done. my only nit pick is that i wish he was speaking cantonese since he was cantonese speaking :)

great job, this spot could have easily gone south and you totally got it in my book.

Chris,

Was the hand held feel done in post, or is that done practically in camera? I am just wondering how the post guys managed to track the Bruce Lee CG character if it was too shaky. I know it can be done either way, but I am just curious how you and JK managed it.

Cheers,

Ivan
