  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

JJ Abrams...

@ Mark: I am pleading the fifth on the above comments... Though I see you have quoted me so I guess I am caught ;) Riggs are awesome! Things are smoothing out now... But I still am going to kiss the next red cam I see! And I will definitely stop in there next time I am in NYC.

Steve after healing about this last 3D feature I can see why you have REd envy

Genesis is a beast for 3D:)

Jackson, Sauderberg, Fincher and now Abrams. It's getting hard to for those who thought Red was a scam:). I so wish we could coax Spielberg and Scorsese. Not that they need it but it would be icing on the cake.

We need to ignore those people. Most of them are, frankly, just dumb and/or trying to get a ignorant dishonest rise out of us (which equals major "dumb" in my book). Back during one of the early pre Red cinema camera projects, it was obvious to one person that the required competency and objectivity was not there, and it had the problems estimated and folded in the precise time estimated (though at one time it looked like it might pull through). Some things were questioned, and some good advice was given, but I did not call it a scam, I just stood back and waited to see if they could pull it together and pull it off. It had it's chances. What red has tried to achieve is maybe thousand or more times harder, so even if Red had not succeeded, that in no way would have meant it wasn't genuine, or was not a genuine effort (genuine failure on ambitiousness projects is not so uncommon). So congratulations to Red for succeeding so well in the past.

We own a lot to Steve Ipp with the original sumix camera, and the originator of the Panasonic pixel shift project over a dvibnfo, for pioneering the way and bringing modern low cost digital cinema cameras idea to our attention (I personally would love to see them awarded with Red Scarlets for there efforts, any possibility Jim?).

Honorable Mention to Rai Oz (was that the name) that constructed the first working camera, the Drake (used to film "The Dachen Feder"), in the time, and to the ability estimated with the advice given. Long live the revolution.

Covert Affairs is Executive Produced by Doug Liman - who will shoot his next feature film in 5K -

Can't wait to see it! Sidenote: Did OffHollywood provide the RED package for the FX series 'Louie'? I noticed that was a NY based TV series that was entirely shot on RED.

It sounds like you might be thinking that Covert Affairs is being shot in New York. That is not the case. Production is in Toronto, and post production is in Los Angeles.

It is a good show, though, and I think it will be pretty well received.

No, I'm talking about the FX comedy 'Louie', which is shot on location in NY and on the RED. Curious to know who provided their camera / post package.

Yes just ignore all the people who r shooting with film or Arri..anyway who is spielberg or Scorsese? we have RED!

I wonder if the next Star Trek will be shot on RED?

Not likely, wouldn't be in anyones interest to change the look of the franchise, I thought it looked pretty perfect and I wouldn't change a thing if I was lucky enough to be shooting the film...on film.

No offense Red guys your doing great things, keep it up!!! Love the M-X sensor your improving a mile a minute. More dynamic range please!!

Star Trek looked amazing. besides the compression artifacts in the CG work, the in camera stuff was spot on.

Also, whoever was the 1st AC on that deserves several beers, because they did a damn impressive job

Except that shot of Nimoy which was so terribly out of focus...

How's this for RED PR. Checking out specs on Todd Solondz Life During Wartime, shot on RED and right above it an ad for Covert Affairs. Congrats guys! You're everywhere.

I am going to check out Covert Affairs tonight. 9pm

Reduser's own Mike Most on the cc.

Most of the pilot was done by someone at Technicolor, and I had to match some scenes to what they did as the pilot was recut (there are various versions being distributed). The shows that I've done completely start next week.

That doesn't make the pilot any less entertaining, though...:thumbup1:
