This is where he keeps his ship.

"It is now vague as to the actual use of this mysterious island. Many have speculated, but no one has the real answers. People from nearby islands have spotted armed guards on the island, but no other activity besides the exotic wildlife. People who have stopped on the island have been escorted off by bodily force, letting no one stay for even a brief amount of time."

For a second I thought it was Wikipedia defacement but it seems like Jim really does own that island (e.g. it shows up as an address under patents). Here's an article on that island:
http://www.bizjournals.com/seattle/stories/1997/02/17/tidbits.html

It has some interesting descriptions, such as Forbes' characterization that JJ is "secretive".
Described as "secretive" by Forbes (which last summer put his wealth at $1 billion), Jannard...

Maybe JJ really does have alien technology in the mysterium sensor... Graeme's magic pixies must be just a cover story.

Its time for survivor reduser edition

Yes, Jim Jannard does own that island so I guess we can say that he truly is an island unto himself. I dunno bout the whole armed guard thing though it wouldn't surprise me since he is reputed to actually LIVE on the island and there are obviously some feisty critters living on that little chunk of land but I have seen a still of Jim (in the RED gallery) driving some wicked looking safari battle wagon of a vehicle in the woods (of what I assume is the island). I believe it used to be fairly open to the public when the Institute was active but now it's just a very private sanctuary/workshop/residence for Mr. Jannard and his family according to what is currently available on the place. All he needs now is a fake volcano and a 1:1 fully functional scale replica of the Disney Nautilus docked at the island to give it that authentic Mysterious Island vibe. :w00t:

According to this Wikipedia page:

Jim actually doesn't live on this island but on Orcas Island.

from there..
"But Spieden is no more accessible now than it ever was. The property is still privately owned, so the only way to visit is by special invitation."

Mr. Jannard,
