Even if Red had to charge, say, $75K for the brain, it would still be much, much cheaper than the Phantom Flex, which comes in around a $250,000+ with everything. Not to mention that the Flex cannot even shoot 5K...

Red will introduce it. I imagine it is already in the pipeline. Jim asked this question in terms of framerates about a year and a half ago in response to a few statements from Offhollywood. My guess it, they'll market the brain for around $35K US.

$35K for a Epic HS brain would be cheap. 1,000fps in 5K would be amazing. I could see all those nature series, like Earth, being reshot for a 4K delivery. Once 4K projection gets going I kind of have a feeling its going to the new 70mm.

A brain that records highspeed raw to RAM and then dumps the RAM out to Redcode would kill the phantom simply because of workflow and footage capacity.
Having some sense of Red's personality, culture. I'd put down money that something like this has been on their drawing board for a long time.

Now in everybody's opinion, would size of the camera be a factor for use, if let's say it was at the moment technologically not possible to keep it at the size of the current Epic design right now for that much high speed. But would have to revert to let's say, back to the size of a R1 or slightly bigger just for the additional hardware it needs to achieve 5k 1000 fps+?
