Great concept and photography!... RED shines!

But why so many titles during the trailer? Of course I couldn't understand a word
but it felt distracting... Is it common to have so many of them in Japanese films?

Editing trailer wasn't my job but, yes, I'd say it's common to have titles in Japanese film trailers, especially being low budget for the trailer production (done without additional narration). We'll make an English version trailer without many titles (I want to preserve the picture quality).

The director Yo Kohatsu and the DP Takeshi Tsuji will be happy to hear your comments. Any one interested in distributing the film abroad?

Well done Kaku. Wondering what is considered low budget in Japan. For info, what will be the budget for such drama shooting with the Red in Japan as against film? Lim

The feature film itself was not that low budget, they spent about $15 mil, but they didn't preserve much for the promotions as far as the money goes (instead, the producer works hard to get promotions deals appearing to many places and getting publicity.

For the trailer, the budget was around $4k.

I've been talking to many people who are planning to shoot features and the ones are looking into RED are spending about somewhere from $500k for the feature.

Thanks Kaku for the info. How much of the $500K is above the line? Lim

I always felt that japanese stories, especially as such, fit more and are more believable in an anime form.

Well, many many dramas and films are based on anime nowadays (not to be so proud about it), but the reason why is that anime people are more liberal in the format and ideas. Film people are usually more restricted with being successful so they can get the next budget.

Sorry, can you elaborate more?

Kaku, out of the 500K, how many percent is being paid to talents, director, DOP, Script mainly ie not counting the production and post production costs - Lim

Tai Wah,

Not sure how that goes, we certainly don't do jobs for free (our part is mostly post production) but I hear the Director sometime not making any extra money. My friend is shooting a short film of budget around 200k and I think all budget is used up in expenses, no payment to the talents, director and DOP.
