I used to like Jim.. But now.. I'm not so sure. Perhaps others have noticed this, and I have missed the threads.. But.. Here it goes:

"Avatar" is not a movie.. It's not fiction. Oakley uses a special material in all their sunglasses and I did not know it until today:

Unobtainium

That's right.. That bastard has been mineing the stuff for years and I never knew it!

So here's the real question: How much of this stuff is in RED?!!

Oh God.. I'm partly responsible for killing pretty blue people!!!

(Yes I am playing, but not about Oakley using Unobtainium, check out the website! I laughed my head off)

So here's the real question: Jim, did Cameron contact you about using that word?

It's what the magic pixies eat.

Graeme

That's no excuse Graeme.. And I CANNOT BELIEVE you are a part of this!

What about the PRETTY BLUE PEOPLE?!

You are DESTROYING THEIR WORLD.

Just WAIT until the guys at C.com get a hold of this..

And you KNOW ARRI'S gonna use it..

"Sure RED has a great camera, but at least WE don't kill entire PLANETS to make ours!"

To be fair, "unobtainium" has been a popular engineering term (jargon) for decades. Wiki says "since 1950s". Could be earlier. Of course now everyone uses, especially sci-fi films, games and novels. Got a much broader meaning now than it did in the 50s.

Not only an engineering term, but i can recall those chicas that were and still are unobtainium. I thought that was really where it all began---circa rome 6th century....only the elite could get into those special roman bashes with fruit, pools of flowing water and all u can eat buffet of unobtainium.

I really couldn't believe they used it in the movie though... At first I thought the character that used the name first was supposed to be making a joke, but then I really cringed when I realised that was what they actually called it...

And, also, using the line "You're not in Kansas anymore"... Could that one be any more clichéd?

The final straw for Avatar for me when that term was used in the film. It was just too stupid. I checked out for the rest of the headache fest
