EPIC-X ordered today.
happy new year ;-)
What it came down to for me, as it's probably something I'd be stretched if I did is that I look at how amazing the Epic M is at it's price, then I look at the Epic X at 34,500 and still feel like it's a great deal. Honestly I'll be watching for when some owners are deciding to sell there X's on here and pick them up when others are done with them.
But Jeffrey, they are upgradeable... (meaning that unless someone goes broke, no one should ever be done with them.)
But maybe through estate sales or something.![]()
I wish that on no one...but there have been epics coming up for sale. If that's not happening, it's still an amazing price for what it does new. And I'll already have all the components from a Scarlet X![]()
Good points, and like you I wish that on no one. Personally, I think owning Epics and Scarlets will prolong life. That's why I'm accumulating as many as I can. -_-
If you can lock in the pricing today...As I understand it the deposit is 100% refundable if your situation changes!

Exactly what I did. Go big or go home, for me, this time. End of compromises- and of my bank account!
If my previous employer had paid me my last 3 invoices I'd be in the Epic pot as well...unfortunately it's been 6 weeks with no pay...
Yeah, it was tempting, I'm not even sure I would've committed to it. I am developing a glass fetish right now...I think I want to invest in glass, mounts and the Dragon upgrade.Sorry to hear that, Jeffrey. However, I think we are underestimating the Scarlet, too. From what I am seeing here on the board it really is a mini Red One MX with even better DR. Its no Epic, but definitely is above everything else. It will pay for itself fast.
i already went much over my initial budget on my preliminary Epic configuration (over 40K, GASP!) but If you can get a 20K, 25K budget you can get an absolute killer Scarlet setup, post production included.
With these 2 cameras it will be all about talent. I'm sure I will get my @ss kicked by Scarleteers in some content. But I'm glad Red really upped the Scarlet specs. It really will change the landscape. Many people, specially in the high end, established environments, are very upset by this. But for the filmmaker is fantastic.
