  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

It's possible to swap fixed lens from Scarlet?

Just wonder if it will be possible to swap fixed lens modul for another mount or if it will be fixed forever? Screws are there, but its not clear if lens will be hard wired or connected with some plug connectors.

awww ... that's it

I checked render of Fix Scarlet again and it's approx by 1/4 longer then other ones

I'd want to know... not to remove the fixed lens... but the entire fixed lens mount.... to put a new mount on... is this possible?

Not the FIXED LENS

But the ENTIRE Lens Mount

Hi,

I am sure it's doable, you will void the warranty and be excluded from the Scarlet to Super Scarlet upgrade programme that has not yet been announced!

something like that he he.. hack it yourself. But the machine can be more entangled and hard wired than we expect

I had hoped to buy a fixed lens Scarlet, then add a mount and primes later when I could afford them.
Now.... I don't know.

so when you put a nikon lens prime with a c mount on a 2/3 scarlet 3k ,the 2/3 chip would pick up only the center of the 35mm lens. would it just be cropped 1/3 around the edges? that would be great. how the fast nikon primes i have compare against the cheaper 2/3 c mount lens ? my newest nikor 24mm 2.0 and my 35mm 1.4 should give great images this set up? someone did mention the nikon adapter does fit on the 2/3 or is it just for the other setups?

same here

Sorry guys, but physics is conspiring to foul your plans, not RED. You'll notice in the renders that Fixed Lens Scarlet's body is significantly deeper than Interchangeable Lens Scarlet. There is a reason for that. The 8X lens and 2/3" sensor package runs the entire depth of its body. You are only seeing the front half of the lens protruding out the front of the body. This lens is covering a 2/3" sensor, remember. It's big! So, we also make a body only .... for primes, for 35mm still, for whatever you want. The mini-RED primes are going to be awesome, affordable and compact. FEAR NOT. IT"S ALL GOOD!

There should be a mini red mount zoom lens! lol
Like a wide zoom, a telephoto zoom and a 10x zoom?

Thanx Jon for interesting info! I really wonder how good and afordable mini-RED primes will be and I have strong feeling that they will be very good and built to suit hires picture quality rather than some older lenses because technology is bit farer now. Just waiting for first testing footage and how shallow DOF will look. I just must see real footage from fixed lens and from primes to decide which way to go.
Also performance of AF and zoom functions will be importatnt. I really dont know...

Buy 2/3" Scarlet without lens, buy additional mount and zoom lens (hopefully similar one to what the fixed lens version will have.). Purchase another mount and lenses later. The 2/3" without lens and a mount and zoom lens should be just about the price they'd charge for the fixed lens Scarlet (maybe a little more expensive, but you get the option to go to different lenses later.).
