still having issues here.. bought clipfinder.. great set up.. however.. a few of the clips i graded (one light) didnt turn out how I graded them... but rather milky and washed out + noisey...

also..

my footage on location in my monitor looked amazing.. no noise.. nothing...

now as i have it all in the computer.. a good majority is EXTREMELY noisey...

any tips or tricks?

id really like to get my images to look exactly how they looked on my monitor on set.
again.. build 30 is what im dealing with

Workaround!

Get the look you like then put the contrast of the clip to .70. It will look wrong in RC-X but the render will match the look you are going for.

It's a QT gamma issue and has nothing to do with what RCX sends QT for the render. AVID had this problem but they have corrected it. APPLE and the QT team have not.

Also,

Clipfinder is not BUILD 30 enabled so if you use it to render you need to be in REDSPACE or REC 709 as it does not recognize REDCOLOR or REDGAMMA. You can use the SEND TO RC-X command but RC-X does not render as fast as CLIPFINDER because Clipfinder takes advantage of REDLINE. RC-X uses more processors to render now, but it does not throw all your computer power toward rendering the way REDLINE does.

If you own a RED ROCKET then the renders are VERY fast, like REALTIME...power...

i was under the assumption that the new clipfinder 2.5 that i bought for 100$ was build 30 enabled.. as it has redcolor as a color space option..

regardless.. now my issue is the LOUPE feature in clipfinder is displaying a completely different look that in the default viewer that is automatically here when you start clipfinder... so i have no idea what im coloring

The default viewer is showing the output of the Quicktime Proxies associated with the shot. The LOUPE feature is the real output of the file.

Zakaree. Clipfinder is Build 30 enabled when rendering through RC-X by using the Send to RC-X command.

I could be wrong but I believe that the new SDK, which would include being able to render through REDLINE in Clipfinder does not yet support this new color science. So this is why the send to RC-X feature is in there.

Clipfinder does so much that I thinkn it is a bargain price and Hans is on top of all the updates, one day after a new RC-X he had a new working version up.

Everyone is busting it to make all this work, i'm sure it will be great after NAB.

ok cool.. so you recommend.. doing a quick color in clipfinder.. then send to rcx to export quicktimes for edit?

yes, this is doable, but the render times will be slightly slower than with clipfinder and redline. Best to do a test for GAMMA, etc. BUt I think Hans put something in there to compensate for the QT gamma issue.

It will be rocket fast if you have Redrocket.

You could also use RCX for onelight and then boost contrast to .70 for the render.

David

You need to set RC-X up with the most recent version of Clipfinder. There are instructions in the new version of Clipfinder for setting up 158 as the render app.

Hey Hans-Georg

Does the new Clipfinder do the lift & stamp for RMD files as well?

Also, you being the scripting genius that you are, how hard would it be to create a script that would take all the RSX/RMD files from one drive, and apply it to the matching clips on another drive?

Right now I load the dual copies of the reels, and have to do a lift and stamp.

Thanks.

ok so i got the workflow down... its very nice!

unfortunately my super fast comp is taking forever to pump out these pro res 422HQ files.. so im seeing the need for redrocket...

Hi CJ,

Clipfinder does not generate or modify RMD files.
RED don't want 3rd parties to mess with RMDs until the format is frozen and I respect that.
Clipfinder will get RMD support very soon after RED give the green light.

As for the looks copying, it seems to me that what you want is basically a synchronisation feature, i.e. a way to make sure that the content of 2 folders stays in sync.

Is that assumption correct ?

Cheers,
Hans

if you are going to 1080 the you can set the render in rcx to half high or half good and it should speed things up.
