ISSUES with REDMOTE

I"m having problems charging my new REDMOTE. When I charge it through a computer, the REDMOTE automatically powers up. When I power it down through the menu it just restarts itself. According to the Scarlet manual when its charging the green light should be on but its not on. All I see in the lower right hand corner is a little flashing dash on the battery indicator. It never changes status and when I disconnect it the dash just stops blinking. No indication of battery level.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

It has to stay on to charge. Try using your cell phone charger too. Just to make sure the remote is ok, does it charge while on the camera?
