Hi all,

I have recently started shooting with a RED One and have an issue with the project settings. Basically I am trying to change the project settings so that I can shoot 4.5K WS at 30FPS in Redcode 36. No matter what I try I cannot use anything except 23.98 as the timebase for any project or I get the message Media incompatible. I have 2 320GB Red Drives and have formatted them before trying to change the Project settings but still not able to change the timebase ???

I have tried Varispeed and I am able to shoot at 120 FPS at 2K and all the speeds that are applicable for Red Drives as listed in the Ops guide so this works fine but a little strange why I cannot change the project timebase to what it says in the Ops guide I should be able to ?? Am I doing something wrong?

Any help much appreciated.

Regards,

Paul

Hi Paul, apologies if this is a silly question  but have you tried formatting the drives AFTER changing the timebase? On each media you can only use one timebase unless you reformat in between. I.e. change the project timebase to 29.97 -> camera gives incompatible media error if the drive was previously used at 23.98 (but just disregard the error) -> now format the drive and it should work OK with the new timebase?

Thomas is correct about only being able to use one Timebase on a Red Drive on the Red One and you need to format the drive to set that Timebase, but you can change Resolution, Redcode and Varispeed settings between clips on the same Red Drive.

Worked a charm !! Thanks as this is not made clear in the RED Manual . . . .
