Actually, Jake asked some fairly pertinent questions -- maybe not in the most tactful way, but he raises some good points. How do you hide posts from a specific user? I've had enough of Mr. Blackstone over the last couple of months.
Maybe what you guys need is a Guide to Red Post-Production booklet that covers all available workflows, editing systems, color-correction systems, and available outputs. Just a suggestion.
Sometimes Reduser gets like reality TV.
Yet I cannot look away.

Graeme, if you're following this, maybe what you guys could do is update your current "white paper" technical section and cover all these terms in much more detail. I think a more thorough Glossary would be a prime candidate. Obviously, if even Blackmagic doesn't understand what "FLUT" is, the bigger picture is that casual users are bound to be confused as well. (To me, a LUT is massively different from what ISO is, but that's me; I wonder if calling it FISO or ISO-F or ISO-Fine would be a more accurate name.)
I can recall having a conversation about Red post with chief engineers of two different post houses, and each told me they were a little confused and overwhelmed with having to deal with R3D files in dailies and had not had much luck communicating with Red HQ. They eventually figured it all out, but they had to do it by trial and error. I agree with Jake that Kodak at least did send out test strips, all kinds of charts and graphs, held seminars, lectured at SMPTE sessions, and stuff like that, every time they came out with a new emulsion. (On the minus side, look where Kodak is now.)

Jeezzee, the online trolling these days... I honestly wanted to learn about FLUT when I came here
Aren't we supposed to use REAL NAMES btw? Like Edward Blythe, or Jake Blackstone. What is an N_Villers?
I wasted a little time I could have spent elsewhere. We all have to sift through pages of posts to get our knowledge, spare us the extra reading?

Go "settings" and select "edit ignore list" under "my settings".How do you hide posts from a specific user? I've had enough of Mr. Blackstone over the last couple of months.
It's covered in two sentences in the Redcine-X Pro manual, page 59, Build 9 (December 2011). But I still think it needs to be explained in more detail, where and why this could be used, and so on. Realistically, I've never seen anybody worry about more than 1/3 of a stop, so I'm puzzled why anybody think you need infinitely subtle control over exposure in digital.I have no issues with the questions. He just seems to have a real grudge lately and all his posts sound like an accusation. I agree with Jake that I didn't understand FLUT, but I never took the time to look for documentation, which I assumed exists somewhere.
