So I finally got around to do some more testing with the Isco-Optic Ultra-Star anamorphic lens. This was all shot with the full-frame Canon 6D, the Canon 24-105mm f4 and the Contax/Zeiss 85mm f2.8 in addition to the anamorphic lens. With these kinds of anamorphic adapter you are usually only able to use a 50mm lens on a super 35mm sensor and a 85mm lens on a full-frame sensor, anything wider and it vignettes. Now, I found out that I could go as wide as 40mm on my Canon 600D without vignetting (probably even wider when cropped for 2.67:1 or 2.39:1), so my guess was that I could go with a 75mm lens on a fullframe body. I dont have many primes (28, 50, 85) so I thought I should try using a zoom lens (usually people on the internet say one shouldnt use zoom lenses with anamorphic adapters), the result was quite bad. My guess is that it is because of the front size of the zoom lens, It may work with older zoom lenses with a smaller front element. My 85mm prime on the other hand worked great! Another thing I have noticed is that even though the smallest focus distance on the anamorphic lens is 1.5m (5ft), I was able to focus to around 1.25m. With this lens you always have to focus further than your taking lens.
