Is it possible to get the Upgrade from Premiere Pro CS5.5 to CS6 on a "DISC"?

Or, is it ONLY available for download?

If it is possible on disc, please give me the website where I can purchase it.

Thanks,

George

did a quick Bing search for CS6 PP on disc... everything seemed to be related to CC. So George, I think you should just bump this thread every few days in hopes that someone who has decided to join the Adobe CC, but already has the CS6 on disk, will exchange their disk for some barter object, like money for instance, with you. Patience. '-)

EDIT: Be sure they understand they have to unlicense their copies from their computers so you can activate the app on yours.

Thanks Elsie, I appreciate the advise.

All I can ever find are downloads. Maybe I have no choice.

What's a "CC"?

Ya know, I'm not sure HOW to do a "bump". Can you explain that to me? All I've done before, is just do the post all over again.

BTW - Why would anyone be willing to "unlicense" their copy? They would no longer get any support, or would they?

Thanks again,

George

Maybe try this? Or give them a call and see what options you have. There are also a few upgrades on Amazon (co.uk - as I'm in the UK).

As an alternative, you can still purchase a new/full CS6 from Adobe.

CC is creative cloud. Basically Adobe has gone to a 'month by month' licence scheme. You purchase a monthly licence and get access to all Adobe products for a slightly higher fee than a single program. Backlash on this is that some programs that are CC will only save CC versions - Adobe lists the advantage as being the CC programs are updated faster (not in a 6-18 month cycle).

Issue with CC is that your files saved in CC 'only' apps can't be opened once you're no longer subscribing... so there's some discussion regarding ownership of the IP you're creating (as you're r'renting' software to create something that's yours - but you can't access that data unless you continue renting)... Google that and I'm sure you have fun!

But Adobe are still selling the pre CC version. It all comes down to preference and if you want to 'own' software or rent it.

Thanks for the info Andy.

No way am I going to "rent". If I can't purchase it, I won't get it. Plain and simple.

Take care,

George

Hi George - figuring that you wanted a disc copy, I didn't think you'd like the CC rental model... I don't either, to be honest.

I've started to look at other options (Lightworks etc), but I'm in the middle of a big CGI project at the moment, so I'm not updating/installing or changing anything in my studio until the project is delivered and signed off... once that's done I'll be checking out the various trials and seeing what works.
