Hi guys I have been testing my Epic W now for days...but today I turn on the camera and was not recognizing the attached modules (new side handle and I/O module) then I just turned off and in again and was all good! I remember this happened as soon I built the camera the fist day but with a hardware rediscover it was fine and never had problems until today.
Is this maybe a bug in the firmware? Maybe the battery I was using was only 20% left...and was not power enough tonrecognize modules?

I don't want to say it's normal, but it seems an issue this common. On my Scarlet-W the side handle is not recognised in like 1 out of 4 camera starts. Have not been able to figure out when or why. Nothing else attached, happens with multiple lenses, batteries and on the power supply.

I have had the same problem with my side handle. My solution has been to restart, so no real problem yet. That is until the restart fails to work.

Forgot a VERY IMPORTANT POINT:
I started to use the new side handle on thenScaet W and worked perfectly then I switched to Epic W and I had this problem. Happen the first time when I added all the modules to the epic brain and I had to do a rediscover and worked...then today...to me looks like a firmware issue otherwose if was some components it shouldn't work woth scarlet eaither

I have same problem. Side handle never worked with my Scarlet w. I shipped back the module one first time with a log file to Red Europe. when Red shipped it back to me it didn't work at all even with restore etc.I sent another log file a few days ago and i am waiting...

Ok this morning happened again, with the same lens I had yesterday...so...I rediscover and worked...then I turned off, added another lens, turned on and worked...then turned off, put back the first lens, turned on and worked...lol...weird!

I sent a lof file, hopefully if they see many people talking about this they will fix in the next update!!

...Still haveing problem with the dsmc2 side handle :-( I need to reebot everytime otherwise don't work....I opened a ticket they are checking the log file, they say they need to check if is a problem of the handle or with the camera brain!!! I hope NOT!!!!

Curiosity :

+) Does this happen with Any lens that you switch on with - Or just a specific one?

+) When you boot up are you aware of any 'electronic' (or unusual) noise when it Doesn't work?
(my partner reckons I have the hearing ... and perhaps looks! .. of a Bat)

+) Is your lens is Canon - can the lens also has a Manual mode vs AF : What happens when boot up?

+) If your ad-hoc wifi was enabled when rebooting : Does switching ad-hoc off have any effect.

+) Are you somewhere Cold by any chance?

+) Are you powering up with a Battery (XL?) / or connected to the Mains.

1. Before I thought it only was doing with one specific lens, but today I turn on "fresh" the camera with another one and it did the problem

2. No strange noise

3. Yes is Canon and I have tried to boot up both with AF on that with AF off and is the same

4. I don't use wifi in the camera

5. No temperature is quite good...but I have notice that when I turn on the camera after one day ti does this problem...then after few hours if I turn on again the side handle work...I am wondering...is not that the camera need to be warmed up???

6. I am powering with a full charge battery

Yes AJ it can be but at the moment I dont want to risk adding the old firmware... I onow a lot of people are opening tickets for this issue so hopefully will be solved soon!

Here is the updated on my DSMC2 Side Handle issue:
After checking my log file they asked me to send back for evaluation/repair.... I really hope they give me a new one as it will be quicker!!!
Anyway...Im happy is not the camera!!!
Anyone here had to send the side handle back?
