so for the month or saw i have been watching this persian music video online on youtube and it is killing me. I cannot describe the color setting of this video it looks to me like it is a HDR video but ive reasearched on that and people say its impossible.

heres the video:

EDIT NEW LINK: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0R3k0YM2Wy8

can somebody try to explain to me how the did the color on this video? its amazing it looks like a cartoon and its killing me! thanks

Both resolution and actual dynamic range looks pretty low to me. The background colors do have a sort of pastel cartoony look, but this is not HDR. I had a sony consumer mini-dv camcorder that could provide a similar effect in-camera, it was a menu setting called "pastel", which posterized and de-saturated colors.

looks like a heavy grade, and some over the top sky replacement to me, there is definitely not High Dynamic Range. A good operator with After Effects should be able to mimic this fairly easily.

check out a plugin from RED GIANT called Toon It!

i checked toonit already =D.

okay so it is effects like pastel etc, and changes to color levels.
is there any 3d editing in here? cloud replacementS? thanks

None of the above changes the fact that that video was AWSOME! I totally just posted a link to that on my facebook page ;-)

looked like green screen to me.

looked like green screen to me.

but how did they drop the people in that environment? and more importantly the color effect. when i watch i feel like the camera just smoked 20 ounces of dope.. lol.

There is a lot of green screen and a peach colored filter. No high dynamic range stuff. Not to say it wasn't well done.

The fact that the windows on the bus aren't blown out was the biggest indicator for me.

are you saying the bus scene and the outdoor scene are also green screen? can you provide more detail thanks

Nice music, fair composition/cinematography and some effort in post...but that's about it!!

...good on ya to the guys that made it.

D

The stuff in the bus looked like normal dynamic range stuff. The windows looked blown out to me. Some of the shopping cart stuff looked like greenscreen although it could be practical with sky replacement. there are some other shots with sky replacement. The color could have been done with a filter although it's most likely that it was done in post considering all the other post effects.
