  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Is there an equitable approach to attach the EVF? ?

Hya,

we fix our EVF with the RED Arm to our Red....but this technique is not really firm.

Does anyone know a good Alternative? How could one attach the EVF rock solid to the camera?

Regards

Ronford Baker have a really good EVF mount that's a new prduct, mail Jeff Lawrence and he may be able to send pictures.

The cheapest solution is to use two of the 5 inch arms ie one both ends of the EVF.

Hya Dave,

thank you for the Input. I will get in contact with Jeff Lawrence. :-)

All the best

I used the Hydraclamp from monstercine with Spud together with a Quickplate from Really Right Stuff and attached a universal mount plate from Really Right Stuff to the EVF. Solid, light and a bargain. All together approx. $ 380.-
I try to post some pics later.

now this looks really rugget! Great :-) Thank you Kaya!

i use ALL Element Technica assecoires.
the drive shock mount is the best assecoires i have.
ultra rods are awesome
breakoutbox is a must
19 mm baseplate is a must

dont know...but stephen from element makes assecoires based on his real world experience...

ACs love their stuff.

Try the Zacuto mount if you want a cheaper mount than the ET mount. I will say that the ET mount is very nice, and probably worth the money. However, I've found the Zacuto to be very nice considering the price--under $280 usd.

Matthew

Hya Mattew,

do you have experience with zacuto gear?

You can use 2 RED Arms to mount the EVF more sturdy.

we tried that, but it is still not really fixed. And if you quickly want to get the EVF out of the sun it is very fiddly.....

I've got their EVF mount on my RED and I like it. It's not as flexible as the ET mount, but if you are looking to save money, it's a good compromise.

Matthew

I completely agree--Zacuto's mount gets the job done well, and with getting an Epic now, I am less interested in spending alot for the ET solution.

i am using the red now and will use it till epic is released and then will use it until my turn comes (i add another 3-4 months) because i have no. 2392...
that are at least 10 months from now.

1000 usd for comfortable working for almost one year is pretty good...i get jobs just because i have this mount and others not.

if somebody is going to pay heavy dollars for a rent...he wants to use it with ease.

Trust me (and other owners too), the elementtechnica.com evf mount is the best piece of gear I ever purchased for my Red... Sturdy, solid, stiff, very well made, etc... A real pro mount for the big Red evf... Get a couple of risers as well if you intend to use the full handle on the top mounts...

And one more time -

Element Technica. Period.
I was just thinking about the mount while driving home. It is hands down my favorite, most used and liked accessory for the R1. Love this thing...

On another note -

"You get what you pay for."

someone here worked out a way to DIY pretty cheaply. I can't remember who, but maybe they'll chime in.

Element Technica!

what Kaya said: EVF support, 19mm Baseplate, Breakout box, Cheeseplate.
