  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Is there a particular type of moving ring light to accomplish this look?

I don't know any particulars about the set ups for the film, there were so many kinetic experiments used. It is truly one of the greatest and most self devouring of films.

I can only recommend you watch

The documentary about the making of L'enfer. Its an eye opener.

I've seen L'enfer & loved it. Haven't seen the doc though... thanks: )

It seems to me all it would need to be is a ring light that was wired in a way that you could program a chase... DMX controller etc.
I'm sure there is a way to create a manual control, a wheel of some sort that would make contact with the hot lead on each light's circuit.
But with inexpensive modern DMX controllers it would be fairly easy and controllable.
I bet the larger you make the ring the more pronounced the effect is.
Cheers,
Harry
