is there a business section on Reduser to discuss the business side of things?

dealing with directors or producers, .. handling bad deals or dishonest people etc??

I tried to get an Art of the craft section going which focuses on everything in filmmaking, not just cinematography. Although there were a lot of discussions we didn't see the addition of that so I doubt there will be a business section as well. I'm not sure what the problem of this is, both "business" and the "art and craft of filmmaking" would be useful parts of the forum. Right now such discussions end up in places like "Red Discussion" and other places that aren't really related to the topics.

it would be great,,

I could really use some experienced help as i'm sure
many can at some point.

Someone should ask Jason Ramsey -- as a moderator, I can't or don't know how to create a new sub forum.

Would like to include the "the art of filmmaking" we discussed in another thread in that request as well.

Agreed, both sub forums would make great additions. Art and business seem like quintessential aspects of working with our Reds.

Yeah it would be nice.

Mean time in one of the next projects I am creating while awaiting to go live with the Film Academy, is to lunch the 100 Episodes "Tactical Filmmaking with Ketch Rossi" which for many here will be no much use I guess, but I ma sure to many other will sure be a great go to bag of knowledge to fish from, and it will most definitely include the Business side of the "Film Business" as well as all directly related Filmmaking topics.

The fact that most of the Episode if not all will be Facebook Live with Active Q&A should add a bit of extra room to answer any questions from Filmmakers tuning in from around the globe.

In my opinion, the REDUser forum is in dear need of a facelift in form of new subcategories. With new cameras and sensors, it's really hard to know where exactly to post these days. I think each camera model with each sensor should have it's own category, along with new ones like a business one. This would be helpful for all and help to make it clear, not just for people posting, but also for people who is looking for information...

It would also, hopefully, encourage a return to broader discussion on both the business and art of film making... This forum is at its best when discussing things outside of the strict scope of Red cameras themselves.

A business section could be a good venue for the sharing of information in regards to procedural matters and the formalities (and maybe even ethics) of running a business or working as a contractor.

But how soon before every thread ends with the recommendation to seek qualified legal or business advice? Or worse, how long before it turns into a venue for slander and libel and dishing dirt/slinging mud over bad practices someone knew or heard about? This could actually be something the owners of Reduser need to take into account if they want to avoid being engaged in the kind of legal matters that can result. Sounds crazy, but it can happen, saw it happen on another forum when a corrupt business took legal measures to stop open discussion of their illegal practices.

There's also the matter of how you define the 'business', considering all the different forms of media Redusers are working in internationally. Imo it's as big and multi-faceted a subject as the technical and creative side of things, but even more prone to secrecy and dog-eat-dog competitiveness (which in itself makes me wonder how freely information would actually be shared).

Maybe people can clarify here more specifically what it is they mean by, and what they want to know about, the business side of things?

I think a place to discuss proper industry practices,
paperwork, ethics etc is sorely needed.

As for "slamming" other business, id expect the mod could
make sure that doesn't happen or delete them.

This would be very beneficial for both new people entering the
industry and those established.

Myself, been "out of the loop" for a while running another business,
I'd love to have an industry mentor or business coach.
