Last week I did a test with a redvolt in the handle and a red brick on the back. While recording i pulled the brick for a couple of minutes and then put the red brick back on (while still recording). There was no hick-up in the recording. Peace of mind for a grand, hard to beat.

I don't think it switches over if the brick "runs out" but I could be wrong.

Is that with all vmount plates? I thought I heard someone mention an issue with auto-switching to redvolts with a brick running out. I have a VF plate.

I heard that too, but I love my one VF plate though I have not had issues with it. If you want to be sure get the Wooden backplate and buy the RED quickback battery back. You can also buy the sweet RED BACKPLATE, I want one so bad but they are pricey.
