Heya, I'm not here to start a complaint thread. I am just looking for an answer, Is the "Fixed Lens" version of the scarlet dead or is it still planned for release.

Could we possibly see a $20,000 Scarlet-X Fixed 8x any time soon? Or Maybe the baby 2/3 Version as was planned for years?

Thanks for any info, As i am just looking for an answer.

Thanks for any info.

The Fixed only made sense (beautiful sense!) in the context of 2/3" run & gun. Now that 2/3" is dead, as far as RED are concerned, there's no point... no reason to build a Fixed camera using S35 sensor when so many other lens options are available.

I'm too lazy to pull up the exact quote, but one of those big J named guys said there were 'terminal' problems with the fixed lens. Translation; not gonna happen.

I don't see why they can't develop an ENG style servo zoom you can mount to the Scarlet to give the same type of functionality that people were hoping for from the fixed concept. It'll be expensive I'm sure, but it'll fill that missing ENG gap.

Yep, Completely dead. Jim said the reason in another thread was that the flaw in the lens was that it couldnt hold focus through the zoom range.

I also asked Jarred if I could buy the fixed lens, and he chuckled and said "those prototypes and now the most valuable, because they'll never be released

Would be absolutely MASSIVE to cover the big sensor.
