  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Is reducation workshop worthwhile

David,

Every Reducation seems to have a wide range of students from no experience - all the way to FILM shooters who own RED cameras and post houses for years.

Your level of hands on experience should not stress your decision at all.
Its more of a goal and focus / work ethic which will help you gain what you maybe looking for.

You will likely gravitate to others whom are looking for the same things your looking for.
And be sure go up to the instructors flat out and let them know what it is you need to learn understand and want.

The communication is the Key.
Everyone there is there to help you with your questions and to expand on the knowledge.

Best of luck
and if i see ya there.
Ill do everything i can to help you or give you to Joseph cuz that boys BAD.

i went to the EPIC Reducation in September.....and am going again in December for the 5 days.....IT IS SO WORTH IT!!!! if you can go....dont think it twice...you learn ALOT!!!

It's the best deal in town. You have access to $2M of equipment and a dozen working professionals that bill out at $2-5K per day.
Do it!

Although I've never officially attended one of these events, I did stop by to say hello and watch how the course was being taught and I have to say I thought it was superbly done. They always have a lot of really smart guys teaching, so you can be sure you're going to walk away with a lot more knowledge than you walked in with. In the short time I was watching, I learned a few things I didn't know and I've been doing this for a while now. So, if you have the time and the money, I highly suggest taking the class. Especially if you are looking to get the most out of the technology.

MOre than anything, the course is fun, and a great way to network and meet other redusers. Oh, that and all the gear you get to play with.

You can have 0 years experience or 10 and you will still walk away having learnt something new.

From a non owner novice perspective, the class is a must. If your lucky you can attend a remote version of it at a discounted rate, I did the May 2011 NYC remote version and it was great. I loved how the price was pennies on the dollar for me to do the class remotely. Cannot wait to be an owner operator one day soon...

Don't have any real hands-on experience with the RED but I'm considering investing in the REDucation workshops coming up in December here in L.A.

Can anyone let me know what's the most basic level of knowledge I'll need in order to get the most out of these courses? Thinking about attending 3 day workshop and the Post production extension.

Thanks in advance!

It makes the REDucation team very happy to see our TAs and past attendees endorse the product. We work very hard to make each workshop better and the December class it shaping up to meet that challenge. David, let me know if you have any additional questions.
