Is RED just an American camera?

I've checked the exhibitors list on http://www.bscexpo.com/default.asp and couldn't see RED there. Is this a last minute thing or have they just made a mistake?

RED in London without having to go up to Pinewood Studios.

heh heh! It is a bit of a trek, and when I last went up there I had to stop off at the Arri building in Uxbridge to get directions!
(They were really helpful, as opposed to the people in Uxbridge who seemed to be trying their best to stop me getting to Pinewood)
Felt a bit silly because I had a Sony meeting and a Red meeting at Pinewood that day!

The Red Europe people I met were all really lovely and ran around to help me.

Pinewood IS rather isolated tho.

Alan! You're a star! Thanks so much for telling me this. I've been trying to find out when this was happening for a while now, and was trying to schedule my life around when it happened last year, and ended up messing things up to the extent that I'm now going to miss BVE.

People keep telling me I should go to the BSC expo but I generally never have enough notice!

Hopefully I can make it happen this year...

Anybody planning to go who is driving?

There will be a 4k and 3D demo at BVE. I think it is by Sony.

I was also surprised not to see Red having anything to do with that.

I think the big camera company behind the 4k seminars is actually Canon!
Not the first company that maybe springs in your mind when you think of 4k but then I guess that's why they need to be a sponsor!

A lot of the 4k seminar stuff is being organised by Red Shark tho! (Yay!) We are the "4k media partner"!
I think Phil Rhodes is giving a talk on 4k cinematography or something. Not sure if Red will be mentioned as a part of that, he did recently review the EPIC monochrome and mentioned Citizen Kane and stuff so you never know...

Red Shark is independent of the camera companies so I don't think there will be a specific agenda regarding any one camera.

I won't be involved in any way sadly as I have to be elsewhere during BVE

I also note that Phillip Bloom is also giving a talk there. Not sure if that is organised by Canon but he will be specifically looking at his 4k canon camera.
He is going to show some footage in 4k apparently so I think it would be really interesting to see that. I mean most of you will have seen 4k and 5k Red footage so now you get to compare it to the Canon output!

Actually think it looks like the coolest BVE yet this year, which is obviously annoying for me!

If I remember my conversation, we were talking about this amazing new piece of kit called a depth-of-field adapter... not that long ago in terms of years but light years ago in terms of cameras. ;-)

I have to say it looks really good this year. Not just Phillip Bloom but also Stephen Murphy (Mrs Peppercorns Magical Reading Room) is on the Tiffen Panel too!

Whenever I have caught speakers there in the past, I have been a bit underwhelmed, so it looks really good this year!
