Is it safe to connect mic and rec audio on Epic or saund recorder is better?

Somebody connect mic to Epic and rec sound? Is it safe or it would be better to rec on portable sound recorder independently?

It's "safe" to record audio to Epic but it's "better" to record onto an independent sound recorder.

It's sad when I hear this... that EPIC Audio is no good.

I agree, go both ways!

this way you can have "synced" audio off the camera for the NLE and then leave it up top your assistant editor to sync up the audio with the external (better quality) audio.

Matthew has the right idea. I don't trust the sound section of any digital camera currently on the market. To me, you're always better off recording sound separately (and to multitrack), and just having a scratch track on the camera.
