Is it possible to use our Red Scarlet-X Camera "WITHOUT" the Side Handle ??

I know it is possible to use it with a REDMOTE attached to the back, but what if you do NOT have a Redmote ? They are, evidently, harder to find than hen's teeth, otherwise, I'd buy one.

Can the camera be used, and the settings controlled, with ONLY the use of a RED TOUCH-SCREEN MONITOR ?

** Any help or advise with this problem, would be GREATLY appreciated !!

Hi George,

It absolutely can be controlled without the Side Handle. The camera would have shipped with a blanking plate that can go over the area where the side handle attaches and it's a good way to trim down some size if you need to.

All the settings can be controlled using the Red Touch and you can trigger recording using the power button or the button on the front of the media module. Alternatively, you can control using Foolcontrol and a serial or Ethernet connection.

I bought the side handle - but ditched it early on and never missed it.


I have a REDMote... and would let it go if the price was right. I only keep it around for the laughs.
