  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Is it possible to put footage back onto a mag?

Hi all,

Just a quick one.

Is it possible to put raw footage back onto an epic mag?

We are doing pick ups of a shot and I won't be there so i wanted to take raw files from Lacie hard drive and put on a mag to enable playback on set to the monitors of the original shots from a few weeks back.

Does this make sense and is it possible and if so what is the process for doing so?

Otherwise I'll be giving them a USB with compressed H.264 on it to watch around a laptop.

As always any advice is greatly appreciated.

I've never had to do it - But if I did... I'd shoot something around the studio (something inconsequential like the cat), take it off the mag, wipe the mag, and then put it back on and see what happens.

In other words I'd run a test.

Thanks for that Glen. i already have the footage and the card it was on was wiped days ago so nothing to lose i just wondered how i could put it back on a wiped mag.

I was just suggesting that you shoot something that you can afford to lose / screw up - and then do a test of putting it back on the card.

Drag and drop; seems pretty straightforward to me.

Cool I thought there would be a more safer way than drag and drop but i'll do a test on that cheers Glen
