Is it me or are WD Caviar Black HDDs noiser than bull frogs?

I mean, seriously, I just installed a new WD Caviar Black in my mac pro, using it as my startup Disk, and the thing is noisy as heck. That grinding sound is insufferable..WTF?

I have WD Blacks, Blues, and Greens and haven't noticed the WD Blacks being any different in terms of noise levels.

It's going to die on you. Blacks are pretty quiet when running properly. Most all HDDs are these days. Some clicking and occasionally audible drive sounds are noticeable, if it's sitting on your desktop not too far from you.

I have a pair of Caviar Blacks in RAID 0, and it's pretty quiet. Although I have noticed the speed drops over 40% when it's half full. Yikes!
