I just wonder, why people distinguish between epic and scarlet "look", although the sensor is same.

I thought, the frame speed is different, because of the processor is different. In that case, the look different between epic and scarlet is same, isn't it?

Just wonder... I just wonder.

Hmm.

They look totally different. One is grey and one is black.

Oh....I'm just kidding of course...well...kinda.

Really though...FOV, Compression ratios...frame rates....lower noise. Lots of thread on this one. They "can" make the same image...but there also "can" be a big difference depending on what you are trying to do.

My understanding is that at the same compression ratio and same resolution, they should look identical.
When you use Epic's lower compression ratios at the same resolution, Epic should have more detail.

There can be a big difference depending on the talent of the shooter, not much on the rest. Scarlet is on par with the red one mx (even better @4K) which was enough for many great directors and famous movies. I see many terrible epic footages and many great images on the scarlet every day. The opposite is true too. Many people are totally destroying the power of their camera with bad lighting, awful artistic direction, terrible post work that crushes everything. 5k vs 4K, 6:1 vs 4:1 are nonexistent differences in comparison with skill differences between users.

i had issues with my Scar getting a lot of noise, like to the point it was annoying my clients/people who rented it.

Quite honestly, it is probably operator error. There seems (to me) to be an awful lot of misunderstanding about how to properly expose Scarlet and Epic. There is also, of course, the possibility that there is something wrong with your particular camera.
