Possibly buying a red Raven from someone and the camera has 830 hours logged. Wondering if that’s a lot and if I should still consider buying the camera? Do you think it is going to need parts or repair in the near future with that many hours?

830 is avarage. Some cameras i've seen have up to 4000hrs and still work fine. Plenty of Red One's in use that have even more hours on them.

The only moving part is the fan, which can be replaced. Red Raven is Red's cheaper option, so they might have used cheaper parts. But i haven't heard of a Raven failing yet.

Yes. It is a lot.... considering that the camera was released 1- 1.5 years ago.

It’s true that some cameras like the Red One have 4000 hrs. on them but that’s a 10 year old camera.

But, you should be able to save money... someone that is selling their camera with 800+ hours on it - shouldn’t be selling it at the same price as a camera with less than 100 hours on... similarly if someone has less than 100 hours on their cam then they shouldn’t be more expensive than a Cam with less than 10 hours on it.

I tend to trust a body with higher hours, its proven it works so to speak, now I would expect to pay less but not like $3k less than a body with say 175hrs.

Yeah, I bought my Red Epic 9 months ago, I use it every week here and there. It's now got 200 hrs on it.. So, this camera was probably used daily. I'd be a little weary of this purchase unless there is a ton of money off..

There's some Arri Alexa's with over 8000hrs and they still work just fine. Don't worry so much about the hours on a camera. They are a working tool after all.
