  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Irvin Kershner RIP

Like alot of great directors of his generation he got a first break
from Roger Corman....also studied photography..music..illustration
and it defintely showed in his movies.

Kershner said he had only one sharp disagreement with Lucas. The script originally called for the heroine, Princess Leia, to tell space pilot Han Solo "I love you" and for him to reply "I love you, too."

"I shot the line and it just didn't seem right for the character of Han Solo," Kershner said.
Instead, actor Harrison Ford improvised the reply: "I know."

Lucas wanted the original line but after test previews agreed to leave in Ford's reply, which has gone on to be one of the best-known lines in the series.

He made StarWars a living universe. May he rest in peace!

Can't really say that I am a fan of anything he did, but he was loved the world over by fans of both Star Wars and Bond. So rest in peace.

RIP, he made the best Star Wars film IMO. Yes, Lucas did a great job with the first but there is something extraordinary about The Empire Strikes Back. It is also on my list for best sequel, along with The Godfather Part 2.

RIP Master...

I would have loved to have seen him direct all subsequent Star Wars films as well. IMO it's Empire that really makes it a great trilogy and it's likely why all of the later films seem to fall short.

If you watch the "Empire of Dreams" doc on the original trilogy dvd set, you can really see that it was Kershner's instinct in regards to the story and characters (from time to time opposite that of Lucas) that elevates the film.

So a somber RIP and a sincere thank you for directing my favorite film.
