Hey Guys,

Ive just downloaded the new beta version of CineXPro with this new IPP2, i was most interested in the new way the highlight rolloff works. Ive tested on some old Red Raven footage and its a definate improvement. Crazy you can do this on footage shot before IPP2 was introduced. I have a few questions though, hope they dont sound too noob.

When i save the RMD in cine x and load RMD in premiere, nothing happens, no changes to image. is this something to do with premiere and do we need to wait for an update for this to work properly?

Is it not possible to change to redlogfilm and keep the roll off option of do i have to go back to legacy? Adding LUTS doesnt seem as easy

Wheres my curves gone? Is CDL the replacement for this? What is CDL? (noob)

Correct, you'll have to wait for Premiere to update their programs with the newer RED SDK. I believe this will be fairly quick after the final update rolls out, if not beforehand. Especially since it's a huge change to the RED R3D platform - hopefully they'll balance the R&D needed to code it in to keep it timely.

Though, you can currently bring that footage in and it should read REDWideGamutRGB / REDLog3G10. You can then use Lumetri with the updated CUBE LUTs to achieve similarly. https://www.red.com/downloads?category=Other&release=beta

Curves have disappeared, but Graeme mentioned he had a few ideas to bring them back. Though, the newer contrast and highlight settings should solve most anything you'd do with a luma curve anyway. Thankfully the color wheels are still in for basic color correction.

Basically IPP2 will probably grow with a few new tricks once things get moving. CDL is a new standard for swapping color decision lists between different manufacturers - instead of using proprietary values. This keeps everyone on the same playing field and leaves a lot more room for interoperability later.
