Posted on FB group but better suited here.

Been testing resolving power on Gemini, Otus 55 @ F8 in IPP2 & Legacy (RC, RG4 with topped curve) no filtration 45º shutter.
Love IPP2 but still on fence with new demosaic with a 5k camera. 8k and its never going to show up as its mostly mastered at 4k. But with 5k going to 4k it does show but again going 2.5k its lost.

Tiffs and R3D frame with IPP2 and Legacy download.

Punch into 300% on the files in the compare folder that has sharpness added to emphasise. I like the easy workflow and colour in IPP2 and I won't stop shooting with it but post wise I think Legacy Mode keeps the 'Filmic' look more.

Had a chat with Graeme on this and basically it comes down to your own preference, although a choice of Demosaics in edit keeping IPP2 pathway would be nice. I also find Legacy much faster rendering but this might be poor app support.

Other thing I wonder is if the OLPF (not the IR cut part) is too strong for 5k?

The IPP2 image without extra sharpening looks better in every way than the Legacy image to my eyes and just cements in my mind while I will never shoot with Legacy on my Gemini.

Not sure what issue you are having with the demosaic on IPP2? If you want your IPP2 image to look more like the Legacy image you can always just add blur?

Legacy demosaic holds more detail that can be brought back with post sharpening, you cant do that with the IPP2 demosaic. I don't need to shoot in Legacy as I can use in post if needed. Blurring the IPP2 just makes its worse. Its not a matter of one is blurry is sharp, thats not the point I was making. But its all user preference so in that respect as long as your happy then its fine.

hmm, I'm curious about your thoughts when you switch from a Low-Light OLPF to a Standard OLPF.

Also, what are your thoughts when you change from Very Soft for your Highlight Roll-Off.
