  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

IPP2 benefit in grading?

Aha, So it will be there in the next version of Resolve? Flame will take ages as always I guess :(

We're working hard on getting the IPP2 SDK out, but better it be right than rushed.

The healthier colour comes from the IPP2 pipeline and the special output transforms, as well as the design of the RWG colour space.

Graeme we shot a test with newest beta fw and how should colorist view the files best possible way? Because we are comparing with Mini vs Epic-W and i think DP and director just gonna open files with Davinci Resolve.

So using REDCine-X is going to be a little better than opening in Resolve. You're going to get slightly higher detail / resolution and better highlight retetion of detail (if there are any clipped highlights). Of course, you could spit out RWG/Log3G10 and take that to Resolve to grade.

Graeme

RC-X sits on top of the SDK, so this kind of functionality does indeed make its way to the SDK.

Graeme

Thanks for clarifying Greame... So hopefully in the near future it will be as usual of an RMD like it was with the previous color space, seemless to SDK like Premiere and Davinci so that a default setup in camera, is seen straight in Premiere CC without going to REDCINE X to tweak first. Meanwhile we do have to go to REDCINE X...

Did I get this right? :001_tongue:

I would assume once the new SDK is put in place, everything will be in place so that 3rd parties can integrate seamlessly.

Hi Graeme just testing out the new firmware which is really cool, love the new layout and the new work flow is starting to make senses to me

when monitoring a 3d lut on my SW what exactly is the waveform and goal post showing me?
is it what ever i set in the image pipeline?
and when the 3d out is on what image pipe line does that default to?

many thanks thanks Graeme i will get there in the end:)

Goal posts and stop lights are raw as always. Histogram will be based on the Log3G10 data. That's the same for Legacy as it is for IPP2 (if you have a Helium so you can view IPP2 in camera).

Hey Graeme,
Any word on whether the transforms will be implemented in FCPX like their current "Log Conversion" for other cameras (Slog, CLog, PannyLog, and LogC) and if so, will it be like the RCXp transform or a (less accurate) LUT?
