iPhone 4S, iOS 5 and cloud service about to go live on Apple website

I just setup my new iPhone 4S with the iCloud service. Everything is working great so far.

Only thing that isn't working is syncing my Google Apps calendar with iCal on my phone. It works with the iCal on my MBP, but it isn't showing up on my phone.

Really? I've been trying to activate mine with AT&T for over 4 hours with no luck. I'm tired of waiting for shit.

I wasn't having any luck for about an hour after I got it at 10:30am ET. But then I connected it to my MBP and tried activating via iTunes. It worked first try.

UPDATE: I got my google calendar to sync. Now I'm all set!

Haha... I had a fun day with the iPhone 4S. Ordered two of them thru AT&T right as they went online, then the AT&T server crashed, apparently. So I've heard. Anyway, all seemed well, but somehow the shipping address got mucked on my order. They had my street number with a prior street name. Must have restored partially from an old system after the crash or something really weird. Anyway, UPS couldn't figure out where to deliver, wouldn't hold the package for pickup, AT&T couldn't change the delivery address because of some policy agreement between them, most phone makers (supposedly including Apple) and UPS... So I spent half a day on it and pretty much gave up. Was going to have to just wait for it to get returned to AT&T and let them cancel the order or re-ship to the correct address...

Anyway, about 20 minutes ago, UPS rings the doorbell and has a different package. I inquire about the other and the driver said he'd help me track it down, would make sure I got it monday. 5 minutes later the doorbell again and a different UPS guy holding my iPhone package. The first driver I talked to called in to their dispatch, who was aware of the mislabeled package, who then contacted the first driver with the right info, and he happened to be on his way back and only a minute or two from my place. So weird, but it all worked out.

I'm sitting here looking at the 4S, trying to decide if I want to activate it now or not or wait until later tonight or even tomorrow. I've heard the Apple system is a bit overloaded today. Anyway, can't wait to upgrade my 3GS... So, what the hell... here I go.

I have a friend who was expecting an iPhone to come today only to find out AT&T had completely lost his order. Must have been during the server crash. They said it will now be 28 days to ship...

He should just head to an AT&T or Apple store and pick one up. Most of the retail stores still have stock. Or order from Apple. It says 1 to 2 weeks on the online store, but they almost always ship before then. AT&T is notoriously slow with filling backorders for some reason. AT&T quoted me that same 28 day number today when I was trying to fix my problem.

That's good service right there. UPS was working HARD today.
