Yes I will probably get one. I hope the "gyro" and compass are improved over 3Gs, so I can better use the apps for planning out the sun, moon and stars for my shots.

The only reason I would not buy the phone is simple = AT&T.

reason why i dumped my 3gs, and went sprint EVO is exactly that. Never looking back, I'll be back on the iphone wagon once it goes to other carriers. ATT has been nothing but dissappointments for me.

Finally pre-ordered mine after 2 hours on the phone with AT&T agent (who probably tried to submit my order 100 times) who said none of the other agents around her (with one lucky exception including mine) were able to get their orders thru in the entire time we were on hold from 5:30am to 7:30am.

It is extremely doubtful that Apple and AT&T weren't prepared for significant order traffic. That only leaves two possibilities, pre-meditated DOS attack or demand beyond even Apple's wildest dreams. I suspect the former but wouldn't be surprised by the latter. The iPhone 4 is a truly insane piece of technology for such a low price.

Demand is huge, no doubt about that. All the pre-order lines and madness at ATT and Apple stores as well as Best Buy clearly show that. But I'm betting there's something else along the lines of a DDOS attack or whatnot causing issues. If that's not the case and it's all due to demand, then Apple has got to be selling 5X (or more) what they anticipated for pre-orders.

Seems to be luck of the draw as far as getting through. I guess the Apple store came online early, I didn't check or try until 7AM MST here this morning and my first attempt failed only to see the store go down again for about 10 minutes. I kept trying both the ATT store and Apple online store and finally got an order to go through on ATT's web site about 10:30. Completely insane....

For those not getting it to go through, you can always skip the eligibility check and just reserve one for pick-up at the Apple Store. They can check eligibility for upgrade pricing then. However, it seems reports are now coming in that people reserving for pick-up are being told the phones are now on back-order as of the past few hours.

I'm getting one for the wife... I suggested to the wife that she could have the 3GS and I'll take the new v4 model. That initiated one of the quickest F-You responses I've ever seen from her. hehe.

Jeff, I have exactly the same situation, and got exactly the same response. But I can't say that I blame her. Whatever made me think she's go for that deal?
