I am surprised there isn't a thread, or perhaps I missed it....

But what is the consensus, obviously based on prototype reviews, of the new iPhone. It should be available for pre-order tonight @ or around midnight.

So, I dislike the policies of Apple. And usually the iPhone is a poor phone, but a good device as far # of applications, especially it seems Red or cinematography related.

So, pre-order one tonight, or can you tell me the application you use in your Red related life are also on Android, or...?

So vote away and post any suggestions, rants or funny pictures that will sway me either way:)

I'm going to buy it. I have a 3G and I want to shoot pocket videos. Plus my current iphone is about to die. I will forever have a love/hate with Apple.

Software makes the hardware, Apple now has 250K apps in the app store. I'm getting one.

With 720p video and 5MP it will be my pocket camera that Scarlet never became.

Besides, you don't have to spend a lot of money on getting stabilized images and professionally looking shots...

I'm getting one for the wife... She still has the original 4GB model and its mostly dead and not working well. She's been limping it along for the past two months while I promised her Apple would have a new one in June. I'm glad they came through or I wouldn't hear the end of it. As for me, I bought a 3Gs last August after I thought I lost my original model iPhone. Turns out a friend of mine just picked it up and found it in their jacket a couple days later after they swore they didn't have it and "looked everywhere". Oh well. So I'm not eligible for the upgrade pricing, I'll wait and catch the next model because hat new screen looks insane! I suggested to the wife that she could have the 3GS and I'll take the new v4 model. That initiated one of the quickest F-You responses I've ever seen from her. hehe.

Well, ATT website is a bit of a pain. Because (apparently) I am part of the "Premier" service or store, it is only showing the 3GS phones, even though the front page shows the pre-order option. Now on hold for 7+ minutes....

I owned a Merlin once and that is exactly the way I felt about it...

Even my wife thought the white one was foo-foo. What a pain ordering that thing this morning (she's getting the 16GB version). Seems the demand overloaded the AT&T servers for doing the upgrade eligibility checks. I finally got an order to go through via AT&T's site.

Attempting to pre-order. I tried a number of times this morning but NG. Stalled at "processing your order".

I think I'll wait a day or so until the Apple & ATT servers get up off their knees.
