Just produced and directed a short film for the SF leg of the 48 Hour Film Project, of course on the RED. So now we are going back and writing a script for a feature, with many of the same crew/cast in place.

If you have a minute, check out www.thelastjob.com to watch the trailer. It was put together to solicit funding and to secure distribution, the first we are still working on, and the second one we have.

Be curious what you think.

Cheers,

Looks like any other great hollywood blockbuster - and I mean this as a compliment. Only one comment - I would not go out so directly about "filmed in 4K on Red camera". It is not needed. It could actually have a more impact when after most people thinking it was shot on film find out that is was RED...

Just my two cents... :)

It really looks fantastic! Congratulations...

Thanks Peter, we are hitting some tech investors at the moment and needed the RED hook, so we put it in the trailer, but we are going to have subsequent trailers without the info as well.

Best,

I agree on not mentioning the RED One unless you are looking for sponsorship:)

:-)

Now, would sponsorship be all that bad?!? Actually there will be other cuts which I described above, but we did our best to make a trailer that stood up to other STUDIO trailers - I think it holds up pretty well.

Credits due: The editor & composer is Joel H. Hinojosa, the DOP was Michael Epple and the DIT was Thomas A. Koch. Bernard Fok produced for Emerging Artist Productions.

The visuals look good and professional. Because of that, I think the title work and graphics brings it a notch down. Just my 2 cents.

Hey Jason, we edited in 2k and the graphics really pop on the HD monitor, perhaps it is the lower resolution flash file...your opinion is noted and appreciated, thanks for the feedback.

I would still drop the shot in 4k bit. Let your STORY tell the tale....

pretty slick though....sound design could be more impactfull...

Re: 4k bit, we are working on other cuts as we speak. If this was just for the general public, I wouldn't have included it, but it has done it's job.

That said, we will work on the sound design, I'm sure we could make it pop even more...thanks.

Cool, just a more "hollywood" swell of the music and arc of your cut would go a long way, also if I had this gig I would try and build more story, leave me wanting more as much as you can, that is your only tool to make the public and investors "want more"
...hey take it how you want, that my 2c worth ;)

Believe me, I more than appreciate it. Keep the 2, 4 and 6c worth coming - I'll take it.

One thing though, and I just can't stress enough. This is not our only trailer, and if you are working on a film right now, you shouldn't just have one IMHO. You have to be willing to make the marketing materials SELL to the audience that you are playing to...

...in my case, I was talking to Silicon Valley tech people and they wanted to understand how/why I could make a film for just under $1 million that looked like a $5 million dollar film. Hence the RED info. ...and it helped.

As I write this, we are working on both a "general audience" cut as well as another investor cut, with interviews and my mug outlining the process, which will go out with another investor package next week to a different group.

When I see trailers in general, especially from the majors, they tailor and talk to specific demographics, market towards men/women/kids, whatever...

...as an indie producer, I think it is best to do the same. That is my 1&1/2c worth...if anyone is interested.
