  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Introducing Weapon Helium 8K

By the numbers.

A quick look at the Weapon Helium (W-H) vs Epic-W (E-W) shows 3 areas of departure:

1) Max frame rates at 8K FF and 7K FF are 60fps on W-H vs 30fps on E-W. Higher FPS (over crank) at 6K and smaller windows are the same

2) Slightly lower compression ratios; H-W can do 5:1 at 8K FF 24fps, E-W is 6:1 at 8K FF 24fps

3) Max data rate is 300MB/s on W-H, the E-W tops out at 275MB/s

This confirms my supposition that the E-W is the best bang for the buck in RED's lineup. If you are already a RED owner, even of one of the early iterations, you can get into the E-W for roughly $20K. Props to RED for such an amazing offer, well done.

It means no deposit needed. When you are allocated, you pay in full then.
 
hey @brent, i'm seeing a higher price as an epic dragon owner than if i were a mysterium owner. i'm i confused? mistaken? glitch in the matrix?
 
There is no way that I can put into words my feelings. This is more than the camera that I have been waiting for.
The capabilities will challenge my approach in capturing images - which translates to growth.

Thanks go out to Jarrad and the entire team for making this possible.
And a special tip of the hat to Jim (and his original team) whose vision made all of this possible - for each and every one of us.

I never imagined that the tech that made it possible for Peter to shoot "Crossing the Line" in only two days would bring us here so few years later.


I am only disappointed that I will need to wait at least 45 days before sending in my Mg.
Cannot shift sensors in the middle of a project.

so that means we just finish checkout with the wire transfer option to complete the order?

Brent, did we have to register our older cameras, none of the cameras I have purchased are showing up.

If so, can you provide a link of where can register them?

Also, a while ago Jarred said that those in line for Vista will get (priority on?) a temp upgrade in Oct if we want to wait for vista, is that still the case and can you share details?

Michael, if you have VV pre-orders, you don't need to sign up for the HELIUM upgrade for those cams. We will simply reach out to you when we have a HELIUM sensor allocated for you - based on VV pre-order timestamp. After that is installed, we will again reach out when VV is ready. At that time, you can keep S35 or move to VV. No additional charges...

Cool, thanks for that update on Vista to Temp Helium.

Aside from my Storm trooper and CF Weapon that is on the vista path, I have 4 other Red Camera, non of them are showing up. I'm considering options on them, but Red.com say I don't have any eligible cameras. Did we have to register them to be able to do this? I have 2 older scarlets, MX, and CF Dragon.
 
I have my deposit in for Epic Dragon to Forged Carbon Weapon. I paid about 3 months ago and was waiting for my number to come up.

What are my options here? My end game Is Weapon Helium.
