I am happy to announce that OConnor unveiled the latest addition to our camera accessory family with great response at IBC in Amsterdam.

The OConnor O-Box WM is a two-stage mattebox designed around the 16:9 format full-size sensor. A wide-angle system, it accommodates lenses up to 18mm (and in some cases wider). The rear stage rotates 360 degrees and an optional 150mm to 114mm bellows ring accepts a 138mm round filter which is also rotatable. The O-Box is the first commercially produced mattebox to have integrated handgrip interfaces. While traditionally operators have used the sunshade as a handle, this precarious handling is remedied by OConnor’s O-Grips that can be conveniently attached directly to the O-Box support cage in three locations: camera left, right or bottom center.

More information can be found on our website here: http://www.ocon.com/products/camera-accessories/o-box.html

Okay, I'm getting one to give it a try on run and gun shoots.

Great to see this! Hard to know what someone like abelcine will sell for.

Eric, what about a Reduser group buy (with a good discount :-) for a setup including the 19mm bracket & 150->114mm 138mm? Or maybe the single jointed o grips (since that has the 19mm/15mm studio bracket already), mattebox and reduction 138mm bellows.

Those handle mounts look like a great place to attach a monitor for hand held shots.

now that i looked more closely, i dont see how the 19mm o grips bracket can attach to the bottom of the lws bracket that comes by default with the matte box.

Hey Shawn,

We’ve been down the group buy road before with varying success. Ultimately something like that would be up to a dealer to put together. As is stands the price is very competitive relative to the landscape of product offerings out there but I would not dismiss the idea outright. Various bundles like the one you described are being defined and will be offered as a packages.

The studio adapter takes the place of the LWS bridge. The adapter has two 15mm protruding studs which fit into the LWS holes on the O-Grip bridge, which then goes onto studio rods and you're done. There are two adapters, one centered for 19mm and one offset for 15mm studio.

With the LWS Bridge attached the O-Box will can also adapt to 15mm Studio and 19mm Studio rods using industry standard adapters.

They are! Also included with the mattebox (but not shown here) is crossbar on the top behind the flag bracket that is tapped with 1/4 and 3/8ths mounts for articulating arms, monitors, on-board lights, CTM and the like. It has a recessed 3/8 on center that turns an O-Grip into a top handle for smaller camera builds (like Epic!)

Here's a quick pic of the crossbar with an O-Grip as a top handle:

Here's the picture from IBC that I posted earlier on the first O-Box thread, showing the 19mm studio adapter linking the O-Box to the O-Grip bridge:

neato. I really like that oconnor is broadening it's product range. they've been adding some pretty innovative twists to conventional equipment. I can see the added mounting options on the lens end of the camera being very helpful!

Nice product.

Some monitor mounting solution on lower shooter's side of the Matte Box would be convenient. Either on handle extenders or on O-Grip bridge directly.
